It was a stunning goal in every way!

Every Chelsea player assumed Burnley were about to lump the ball into the box, but they didn't and instead played it short. The ball eventually fell to Ward and the volley into the top corner form than angle was absolutely phenomenal. No blame attached to the goalkeeper.

Antonio Conte will have to do something extra-soecial at half time and maike some major changes.

Wow! What a good goal from Stephen Ward!

The full-back, in an advanced position down the left, chests down after a neat one-two with Cork before lashing an angled shot from inside the box past Courtois and into the far corner of the net.

Hands up who saw this coming?!

Burnley are doing a superb job of denying Chelsea any rhythm. In fact, the Clarets are doing more midfield dictating then their opponents. Jack Cork is enjoying the space Chelsea's depleted team is affording him.

Robert Gallacher: If I were Conte I would walk away now before the awful Chelsea board blame all this mess on him. The squad is a shambles!

Johnny Magrinho: Complete capitulation from Chelsea. Somewhere in Brazil right now there is a man called Diego Costa laughing himself silly.

Daniel Woodley: Due to his personality the chances of Antonio Conte being sent to the stands this afternoon have increased significantly.

Home applause for N'Golo Kante, who gets stuck in to win the ball near the outside of the box. His subsequent ball down the right is less impressive, though, skipping out of play way ahead of anyone in a Blue shirt.

There is one player out there for Chelsea, just one, who looks capable of turning this around. That man is Willian, who is trying to do magical things all on his own.

Ben: So Cahill is being pulled by a Burnley player, only reason he went down and he gets sent off?! Looks like the refs are against us this season already!

Franco Makwangudze: I hope Conte and Chelsea will not have a Mourinho season so early.

FamousCFC: Refs always like to 'set tone' on opening day, then after three games business as usual.

The last few minutes since the sending off have seen chopping and changing among that back three for Chelsea. They can't decide who's going left and right, and they have paid the price by going behind.

Chelsea haven't lost a Premier League match on the opening day since they did so at Coventry's Highfield Road in 1998. Mind you, they haven't lost this one yet.

Something is rotten in the state of Chelsea. The Blues do not look anything like champions at the moment. Granted, a red card is always likely to mess you up, but the players are looking at each other in confusion and desperation for someone to take control.

    Burnley are enjoying themselves.

Well, the atmosphere inside this stadium is... interesting!

Chelsea have already changed their system, reverting to a back three. That makes a lot of sense.

If you're Burnley you will never have a better chance of beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge than you have right now. The Blues are in disarray and the visitors look up for it.

You have to say that goal is not a surprise. Since the sending off Burnley have been the better team - they have not sat back and they realise this is a weakened Chelsea side.

Vokes didn't have to work too hard for that, just redirecting his header inside the post.

Right now you cannot see Chelsea getting back into this because they are not creating anything. Antonio Conte has not had a harder job managing Chelsea during a game than he has right now.

Pigeons, say hello to a another cat.

The ball is swung into the box by Matt Lowton and Sam Vokes is there to hook in a volley. Courtois gets a fingertip to it but can't keep it out.

    Chelsea 0-0 Burnley

Match of the Day commentator at Stamford Bridge

Gary Cahill missed the ball by a distance and the referee had a great view. It's pretty clumsy. I'm not sure there was any great malice. Ill-judged, yes. Ill-excuted, yes. Pre-meditated, no. But Chelsea had Victor Moses sent off in the FA Cup final, Pedro sent off in the Community Shield, and now Gary Cahill in their opening Premier League game.

He has gone searching and it is high. He has caught him on the shin. He has run into traffic. I can see why the referee has sent him off. It is dangerous. The referee was right on it and he has gone in there and he is out of control. Obviously now, you are going to get caught out for that sort of challenge.
