Here is what Steve Wilson had to say ahead of this game...

"Champions Chelsea will be expected to send out a signal of intent to the other title pretenders against a Burnley side which, in league and cup, won only once in 21 attempts on the road last season.

"But that Burnley are embarking on a second successive top-flight season at all is testament to Sean Dyche and the culture he has established at Turf Moor.

"Don't forget, the last time Burnley had avoided relegation in a top-flight season was 1975.

"That said, it would be a major surprise if Burnley could repeat their Stamford Bridge draw of 2015 - and an even bigger one if Chelsea were to suffer an opening-day defeat for the first time in 20 seasons."

I'm really concerned about them. Looking at this Chelsea team, Morata can't compete. Pedro is not available. Where are the goals going to come from for Chelsea? I think they might not even make the top four.

Antonio Conte does not look as buoyant as he looked at the start of the season.

I don't think his side look as potent as they did, and they're inevitably weakened having lost a few key players. I do not expect them to hit their heights of last season.

The master of proving a point, by putting youngsters on the bench, was Jose Mourinho. But today, Antonio Conte has outdone him. I watch a lot of Chelsea youth team football and I wouldn't have predicted that bench.

Maybe the best information I can give you is that I am looking at both substitutes' benches and Burnley's is much, much stronger!

It has also been a tough summer for Burnley so far. The Clarets have more money to spend than ever before but a hyper-inflated market means finding quality at a reasonable price is proving tough.

Charlie Taylor is a young player with potential, while Jack Cork and Jonathan Walters are dependable top-flight performers but with Michael Keane gone you sense they will need a bit more. Still, it would be foolish to write of Sean Dyche and his men after the odds they've previously overcome.

It has been a frustrating summer for the champions and their boss Antonio Conte. The main striker is on his way out (eventually), chief attacking architect Eden Hazard is crocked and the man through the door, while dripping in quality and lacking in quantity.

Could the inclusion of young Boga and a very young, inexperienced bench today be a point by the manager to highlight the need for further additions before the window shuts?

The Italian could win either way. If Boga rises to this occasion then great, if not then it could prompt the chequebook to emerge.

No Diego Costa for Chelsea, which is not a shock as the reports are that he remains very much on the way out of the club. What is a surprise is the inclusion of Jeremie Boga, an Ivory Coast attacking midfielder who joined the club in 2009 as a youngster from Marseille, but has spent the last two seasons on loan in France and Spain. This is his Blues debut.

Summer signing Antonio Rudiger starts, playing in defence, while Willian is tasked with filling the Eden Hazard-shaped hole in the home side's attack. Michy Batshuayi is the main striker.

The Chelsea bench also has something of an unknown quality to it (for neutrals at least), containing Charly Musonda, Andreas Christensen, Fikayo Tomori and Kyle Scott. Alvaro Morata is alongside them.

It is a case of as you were for Burnley. Summer signings Jonathan Walters and Charlie Taylor are on the bench. Another new recruit, Jack Cork does start in the centre of midfield.

James Tarkowski takes the departed Michael Keane's spot at centre-back alongside Ben Mee. Sam Vokes leads the line with Steven Defour the creative man behind him.
