After the second goal, you could visibly see the Brighton players' heads drop and their shoulders shrink. They have put in a good evening's work but they have got a long way to go. They will be happy to stay in the league.

This is one of those games where you probably don't really need any injury time.

I think it is as much as Pep Guardiola could have hoped for against the enthusiasm of a team promoted for the first time in 30-odd years and it is a job well done.

I think they will be relieved when they hear the full-time whistle. From their point of view, the sooner the whistle blows, the better.

Aguero always seems to come off before the 90 minutes is up. If you look back on his record, he scores goals but he just doesn't often complete the full 90. It doesn't surprise me.

Manchester City bring on £42m summer signing from Monaco, Bernardo Silva, for his debut. Off comes Sergio Aguero. City now have no 'proper strikers' on the pitch.

Raheem Sterling goes into the book for breaking up a Brighton attack with a foul.

Lewis Dunk is the seventh player to score an own goal on their Premier League debut.

Ederson has had so little to do. Everything has been comfortable. He has not been tested at all. Obviously, we would love many more of these games where he doesn't have much to do.

Brighton have a couple of corners. If they're going to come back, they have to score soon. Ederson catches a corner and rolls the ball to a team-mate. Ten minutes left.

It would have been a lot to expect Brighton fresh from the Championship to go a full 90 minutes without conceding, and that is the way it has turned out.

It is a little bit predictable, but Brighton had to start somewhere. They look like they have lost a bit of spark.

Manchester City bring on Raheem Sterling for Gabriel Jesus. I'm not sure the Jesus-Sergio Aguero partnership really worked despite the scoreline.

A couple of minutes ago, Brighton brought on promotion hero Anthony Knockaert for Solly March.
