It is what we expected coming here, Tottenham dominating the game, but they need to use Harry Kane and Dele Alli more if they are going to win this game.

Newcastle do carry a threat on the break and they are working very, very hard.

Not much to get excited about in that half. Goalless at the interval.

Christian Eriksen shapes to shoot, but lifts his free-kick into the area.

It is poor though, failing to clear the first man.

Newcastle break clear, but Christian Atsu's cross into the box is caught by Hugo Lloris.

Can Spurs break the deadlock before half time?

They have a free-kick, around 30 yards out, dead centre...

FOUR minutes of added time in the first half because of the stoppages.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is conversation with his assistants in the dugout.

Everything is going long. If you pass a 10 or 20-yard ball it is very easy to control, but when you are kicking 60 yards it is different. Tottenham have picked every ball up from the start of the game. At the minute, Newcastle are just running.

Tottenham are trying to walk it in so far. Christian Eriksen decided to shoot and I think they have got to do a lot more of that.

Ah, right on cue.

Dele Alli takes matters into his own hands and curls a 30-yard effort goalwards, but it is straight at Newcastle goalkeeper Rob Elliot.

Needed a bit more loft and pace to cause Elliot any problems.

Five minutes to half time.

Lots of courage and conviction, few creativity or chances.

A header from Harry Kane just now comfortably cleared by Newcastle. He was a bit far out to ever truly worry the goalkeeper and the striker has generally had little involvement. Just nine touches so far, the fewest of any Spurs outfield player.

Kyle Walker-Peters is playing in a terrific team and they will help him. When he make runs, he knows that the players in Tottenham shirts will get on it.

Newcastle's defending has been excellent, they are really working their socks off. Once Tottenham get into the final third, Newcastle are closing people down and Tottenham cannot get the ball through.

I think Newcastle have got to be a bit braver though and draw the Tottenham team out.

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley, arms folded, watches his team from the stands.

He told Sky Sports this week he does not have the kind of money being splashed out to compete with other Premier League clubs.
