How can you tell if Moussa Sissoko is on the ball for Spurs?

Listen out for the loud 'booooos' ringing around St James's Park.

Meanwhile, the first shot at goal.

The ball drops nicely for Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle inside the area, but his shot on the bounce is blazed over the bar.

It is not the time to start treading water and start standing still. I think Tottenham fans have every right to feel disillusioned.

Now is the time for Tottenham to throw money at this squad to make sure they can compete in the Premier League and the Champions League, because there is no point moving into the new stadium not having Champions League football.

They will want speedy winger Christian Atsu to get at Kyle Walker-Peters early to test the youngster.

Haha, very good by Lewis Wilson on Twitter.

He tells us Kyle Walker didn't leave Tottenham in the summer, he just got married.

Jack: I'm predicting 4-1 Spurs. All this talk of them not strengthening, why fix what isn't broken? A great season last year, one of the best team spirits in the top flight, top scorer. I know they didn't perform at Wembley but I'm sensing a title win this year...

Jaidev: Would be a hilarious bungle for Manchester City if new Spurs boy Kyle Walker-Peters ends up performing better than Kyle Walker.

Jay: There's only one certainty if Harry Kane stays fit all season - he'll be playing for Real Madrid next season.

"Did Newcastle really go down for a year or did we dream it? I only ask because it seems not much has changed as they kick off their Premier League return with the same fixture they left it with.

"As seems usual, there's frustration on Tyneside over transfer business, with Rafa Benitez' statement that he'll 'try to be sure to get the players we need' sounding vaguely threatening.

"In comparison to Spurs though, The Magpies have been positively splashing the cash, with last season's runners-up looking very light on numbers with ZERO new faces so far.

"Be that as it may, the starting XI is still more than good enough to kick off with a win here."

"I think that the fans were so pleased to see the team going back to the Premier League. They were amazing last year supporting the team and they will be the same this year. We have a massive city behind the club.

"It will be a tough test against Tottenham, you are talking about one of the best teams in the division.

All this talk about 'what if Harry Kane gets injured - how will Spurs cope?' is a complete red herring. What people should be focusing on last season. Harry Kane was injured, he missed a chunk of games, and still managed to be top scorer and take his team to second place. So the real question is this - what happens if Kane stays fit all season?
