    Man Utd 4-0 West Ham

Between the two goals, Jesse Lingard entered the action in place of Mkhitaryan. Worth mentioning if only to note how good Henrikh was this afternoon. Saying that, he's not the only one.

    Paul Pogba

Polish added. Martial turns provider, setting up Paul Pogba to curl a shot past the diving Joe Hart.

West Ham have crumbled completely to give this game a scoreline that the home side's dominance deserves.

Ominous for the rest of the division.

    Anthony Martial

And there is the third goal!

Substitute Anthony Martial slots in a low finish from inside the box after he is set up by a threaded pass from Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

It is no less than they deserve.

    Man Utd 2-0 West Ham

Paul Pogba nearly gets in on the action as he charges into the box to chest down a chipped pass and swivel on to a shot that is blocked by a Hammers defender. Two goals will do to seal this game but a big finish won't hurt for some feelgood polish.

Fazzy:Rashford has linked up well with Lukaku. Remember the last number 9 and 19 partnership United had upfront? Cole + Yorke.

Kezman:What must Conte be thinking watching this? Matic a delight to watch at the heart of midfield.

Andrew Pollard: Poor Chicharito. Today he's been like a chef in an empty restaurant. No point being there and no chance to show what he can do.

    Man Utd 2-0 West Ham

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic has tried a couple of substitutions but his side are still being completely overrun.

Javier Hernandez has barely had a kick on his return to Old Trafford, Joe Hart has been beaten twice and Marko Arnautovic has made minimal impact also.

There are clearly easier fixtures in the calendar but after such a substantial outlay, it looks as though Bilic could be one of the first Premier League managers to start feeling the heat this season.

Chance! Not a great one, but beggars can't be choosers.

The ball is crossed from the left and falls to Arnautovic at the back post. He hits his shot well but it flies well over the bar.

Jose Mourinho is obviously aware of the threat that is there from West Ham and is looking to snuff it out by bringing on Marouane Fellaini. People will have been tickled by the rubber-faced photo taken of him the other day, adding to the legend.

Chris Coveney: Creative play from Man Utd - they look a good side this season. Rashford and Lukaku partnership could be deadly.

LFC Way: Chelsea might not retain the title, but Matic might.

Andy: Last hat trick on opening day was in 2010 by Didier Drogba 6-0 v West Brom.

Marcus Rashford said without hesitation when we interviewed him on England duty last season that his preferred position is through the middle, but you will probably say he will play most of his football on the left-hand side.
