Superb work between Paul Pogba and Juan Mata.

They're getting closer. Pogba's brilliant ball finds Mata, who has made an equally brilliant run into the box. His low ball - designed to set up Lukaku for the finish - is cut out by Ogbonna.

It prompts a couple of United corners in quick succession, the second of which is palmed away by the diving Joe Hart.

Pogba tumbled in the box from the first set-play and clearly felt he had been pulled down. Safe to say the West Ham players firmly disagree.

West Ham are having to seriously graft here. They are chasing shadows, though. Even when they do get hold of the ball for a time, it is quickly wrested back away from them.

Rashford turns one way and then the other in the box to out-wit two defenders but his shot is blocked.

There is not enough in that for a penalty. Come on. It was a sort of clumsy affair, edge of the six-yard box, it was minimal contact. The look on your face Robbie suggests you think it was a penalty.

There were calls for a penalty against that Ogbonna challenge in the process of denying Lukaku. Not a chance.

How have West Ham survived here?! Mata breaks into the box and nips around Hart before crossing low for what looks at one stage like a simple finish for Lukaku. A combination of three Hammers players, including Angelo Ogbonna, ensures the ball stays out and is then hacked away.

Manchester United have been camped in the Hammers half for the past 10 minutes or so. You can see this by the respective heatmaps of both sides...

Red Devils centre-backs Phil Jones and Eric Bailly are the only home outfield players whose average position is inside their own half.

A backs-to-the wall job so far for the visitors.

The Red Devils have had 64% possession in the opening 15 minutes, but have registered just one attempt at the away goal.

It's all Manchester United because West Ham are sitting so deep. They have got no outball whatsoever. The pressure is all on West Ham. You can see the West Ham fans singing "Get out".It is a good start for United, they have got all the possession. In the middle of the park, Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic are controlling the game without even doing anything.

Tackles flying in. Blind, Obiang, Pogba, Mata - they're all chucking themselves into thunderous clashes in the centre of the pitch. This is what we like to see.

Robbie Savage on 5 live: Great passage of play there. Wholehearted and committed. Martin Atkinson, who I think is an extremely good referee, handled the situation well. Well played everybody.

West Ham make a real meal of clearing the set-piece. Eventually, it is hacked away but the pressure continues. If this continues it is only a matter of time before the Hammers fall behind.

Marcus Rashford tumbles on the edge of the box under a challenge from Arthur Masuaku. No free-kick. The home side come again, though, and force another corner.

The signings last summer were quite poor but the signings West Ham have made are very good. That will give a lift to the West Ham players. Coming here on the opening day, I came here with Leicester many years ago, it is a good time to come to Old Trafford.
