  1. WHAT A SAVEpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 27 August 2017

    Liverpool 0-0 Arsenal

Liverpool carve open Arsenal at the back.

A brilliant ball is play across the six yard box by Emre Can, begging for Mohamed Salah to slot home from close range, but Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech sprints to the back post, spreads himself and stops the ball from rippling the net.

A superb save, but Salah should have finished that.

    Liverpool 0-0 Arsenal

Arsenal see the opposition penalty area for the first time and should be ahead.

Jordan Henderson is dispossessed allowing Alexis Sanchez to break forward, no signs of rustiness from the Chilean.

He plays it into the feet of Danny Welbeck in the box, the Englishman holds off Joe Gomez, but cannot sort out his feet and shoots over.

That was a curling, drifting ball and Hugo Lloris did well to back-pedal and turn the ball away.

I think he was well aware of the framework of his goal and was just able to tickle it behind.

As you would expect, Liverpool winning the ball high up the pitch.

Alberto Moreno swings a ball in from the left which Emre Can meatily gets his head on, but it is not well directed and goes wide.

    Tottenham 0-0 Burnley

With the first launch forward from Tom Heaton at the towering presence of Vokes, the frontman will try to pressure one Spurs centreback. If he succeeds Burnley will succeed in isolating Tottenham's defenders, which is something Spurs will have to be careful to avoid this afternoon.

Burnley may feel like this is a Cup final, playing at Wembley against Tottenham.

Striker Sam Vokes has an effort which deflects for a corner, but the visitors make nothing of it.

I honestly think Liverpool are still hanging on for a Virgil van Dijk deal. There are other defenders on the market - Keane moved from Burnley, an established top-flight centre back capped by England.

Liverpool should have looked further afield, because now at this stage of the season it'll be very hard to secure the services of someone excellent.

For all his goals, Harry Kane has never found the back of the net in a Premier League game in the month of August.

The England striker has a go from the edge of the box in the first minute, but it is blocked by a Claret defender.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could leave Arsenal before the transfer window closes on Thursday night. The England international has turned down a new contract with the London outfit, with Chelsea and Liverpool keen to sign the 24-year-old. Oxlade-Chamberlain's current deal expires in the summer.

However, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has not given any indication he is willing to release a player who has been at the club since he left Southampton as a 17-year-old in 2011.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has started all three of Arsenal's Premier League games this season, plus the Community Shield victory over Chelsea at Wembley. He has been part of two FA Cup-winning squads during his time at the Emirates Stadium, in 2015 and 2017. He also has 27 England caps.

If I was an Arsenal fan coming to Merseyside today I would have looked forward to my instinctive, goal scoring record signing Alexander Lacazette and Alexis Sanchez playing together for the first time. I tell you, that's a big decision by Arsene Wenger!

Having Laurent Koscielny back for the visitors is massive. The pace of Mane, Salah and Firmino will really stress that Arsenal back line. If I was a Liverpool attacker I'd fancy my chances today.

It's going to be really interesting today - I'm very excited about it. So it's bound to be a 0-0...

Been chatting to fans outside the ground. Most of them are wondering why Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet appears to have been rested for this game. Rhys says it's a really strange decision.

"I'm fully confident Loris Karius came come in and do a job, Jurgen Klopp obviously trusts him and we trust Klopp as fans," he said.

"I was on the bus on the way up here when I read about it and I don't know what to make of it to be honest. Hopefully we will still go on and win the game today."

Spidercam is gliding eerily near The Kop end as Liverpool keeper Loris Karius is being put through a tough pre-match work-out.

It won't just be Spidercam keeping a close watch on the young German today after Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp's decision to rest Simon Mignolet, a decision greeted with widespread surprise.

There was little hint Klopp was considering such a shock move until this morning - but he as shown great faith in Karius, who must now reward his manager against Arsenal.

Alan Lowndes: So Liverpool need to rest their keeper after only a few games? Confusing decision when facing a top four rival. Karius has to have a good game now.

Matt Wilkinson: The movement Sanchez will bring worries me today. Moreno and Lovren are liabilities. Robertson should be playing after last week.
