All Spain so far in extra time, it seems like the addition of Jenni Hermoso has given them a bit more impetus when they have possession. She is finding a bit of space in the 10 role and Austria are not picking her up

  2. 'Let's talk after the game'published at 19:06 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

    England v France (19:45 BST)

French midfielder Camille Abily, who has won four Champions League titles, responded to Mark Sampson's suggestion that England did not need to be at their very best to win by saying: "Personally I don't read the declarations of Mark Sampson or anyone else.

"I'm happy for them if they are confident - but I am too. I trust my team and maybe we can talk at the end of the game."

Paul O'Connor: We should be hearing more fighting talk similar to what we have heard from Mark Sampson. Confident for England to win tonight

The bookmakers (In the UK, anyway) now make England favourites to win the Euros after Germany's shock exit earlier on today.

    What are your thoughts?

  5. Will we get another conga?published at 19:02 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

Both sides have worked very hard at nullifying the other, but that has meant the game has lacked creativity and excitement. That said this is Austria’s first ever appearance at a major tournament and they have really enjoyed their experience.

It is hard to forget their conga complete with flashing disco boombox through the mix zone after the last game. Will we get a reprise here?

This will be the 22nd meeting between England and France but only the second in the Euros. France beat England 3-0 in the last game of the 2013 group stage to eliminate the Lionesses. Eugénie Le Sommer, Louisa Necib and Wendie Renard scored.

The teams have also met in the last two World Cups: the 2011 quarter-final, which was 1-1 after extra time and 4-3 to France on penalties, and the opening game of the 2015 group stage, which Les Bleues won 1-0.

Overall, in 21 meetings, France have won 10 and England two, with nine draws (including the 2011 World Cup quarter-final).

England's two victories came in the first two meetings in 1973, 3-0 in Brion, and 11 November 1974, 2-0 in Wimbledon.

Mark Sampson's confidence, his ego, are a breath of fresh air when it comes to England managers. You can't imagine Sven, Roy Hodgson or Gareth Southgate calling out Didier Deschamps can you?

But I'm pretty sure his approach will be divisive, and he will certainly look foolish at best if his side don't perform for him tonight.

In the build-up to the game, Mark Sampson has peppered France coach Olivier Echouafni with barbs after the French coach suggested the Lionesses "did not want" to play France.

He called the France manager 'wet behind the ears,' saying: "He's played three won one, I've played 11 won nine.

"He'll learn who to talk about and not to."

He then said on Friday that England won't even have to play well to win tonight!

"We want to be at our very best but the nice feeling is we don't need to be to win on Sunday," he said.

"If we are then there's no question in my mind that we'll win comfortably."

    Fighting talk...

Most England news conferences are so dull that the media struggle to find a single line to go on. Mark Sampson has ripped up the rulebook.

He's made women's football a battleground like Mayweather v McGregor in the last week or so.

An England manager exuding confidence, calling out a foe who holds a historical hoodoo over the Three Lions?

    Extraordinary...

Denmark will face the winners of this game. They've nothing to fear from either side on this evidence.

A defensive change from Austria, it will mean a reshuffle so Kirchberger can slot into the back four. It looks like captain Viktoria Schnaderbeck will move into midfield protecting the back four.

Interestingly Sarah Zadrizil has pushed into a more advanced role, the midfield starting to look more like a diamond.

    Austria 0-0 Spain

A very tired Nicole Billa comes off for Austria after an almighty shift of defensive forward play. Dirk Kuyt-esque. Austria send on Virginia Kirchberger.

IF we go to extra time, sorry WHEN we go to extra time, the teams are allowed a fourth sub.

Still Spain pass it around in midfield, still they get nowhere. It's all very dull to watch.

  20. Gamble for goals?published at 18:32 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

    Austria 0-0 Spain

    Seth Bennett
BBC World Service reporter at Willem II Stadion

Austria have been the better side for the last 10 minutes, they are out working Spain, but they have yet to get that killer chance. Nicole Villa has moved into the front three and her energy is making life difficult for Spain.

With a shade over 15 minutes to go is either of these two teams willing to gamble to get that all important goal?
