Pep Guardiola plays the same type of football every game, he wants to control the game and dominate possession. Against Liverpool you have to prevent the counter-attacks as they are almost impossible to stop.

I am so happy I am retired when I see this Liverpool team attack! They are so quick. I don't care who you are you can't defend one-on-one against them.

Winger Eden Hazard has been included in the Chelsea squad for the first time this season.

Hazard, 26, has been out after breaking his ankle while training with Belgium in June.

But he scored in Belgium's World Cup qualifying win over Gibraltar, before a substitute appearance against Greece as his side made the World Cup finals.

Blues manager Antonio Conte said: "I can count on him but I have to decide the right moment and minutes for him."

  12. Motty hanging up the micpublished at 10:43 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

Brighton v West Brom (15:00 BST)

You surely won't have missed the news this week that legendary commentator John Motson will call time on his BBC career aged 72 after the conclusion of the current football season.

The broadcaster, popularly known as 'Motty', is in his 50th consecutive year with the corporation.

He covered 10 World Cups, 10 European Championships, 29 FA Cup finals and more than 200 England games.

"I've absolutely loved my time commentating for BBC Sport," said Motson.

"I've been fortunate enough to witness some of the biggest moments in football history mere yards away from the action, so I've really been very lucky."

Motty will commentate on 18 games over the course of the Premier League season as part of a 'farewell tour' before a last appearance during the BBC's FA Cup final programme in May 2018.

The announcement comes as Motson makes his return to the Match of the Day programme at Brighton tonight.

Manchester City v Liverpool (12:30 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
    Former Liverpool defender

What helps Jurgen Klopp is that Liverpool have not exactly struggled in attack without Philippe Coutinho - they have been fantastic going forward.

Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino can both play in that number 10 role too, so they have three players who can do that job - Coutinho just happens to be the best one.

It seems as though Manchester City are still settling down as a team after their summer signings, but that will happen quicker if Pep Guardiola does not chop and change his side.

I just get the feeling he is still trying to be a bit too clever with his formations and team selections, despite the fact the Premier League is so unforgiving, whoever you play.

    Lawro says: 1-1

Manchester City v Liverpool (12:30 BST)

He was the talk of the transfer window, but Philippe Coutinho has been left out of Liverpool's squad to face Manchester City.

Coutinho, 25, has returned to the club after making two substitute appearances for Brazil in World Cup qualifiers.

He has missed the start of the Reds' campaign with a back injury amid interest from Barcelona.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said: "I decided to leave him out of the squad for City so we can use the time for extra training. He agreed."

The Reds turned down three offers from the Spanish giants for Coutinho - who had made a transfer request - and maintain he was not for sale. A good call?

He scored in a 2-0 World Cup qualifier win over Ecuador last Friday, and also came on during Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Colombia.
