    Debut day

Yep, I know two-thirds of the Football League carried on last weekend but there's an undeniable lift when the top two flights are in action.

It's the first game for many clubs after the transfer deadline - but which potential debutant are you most excited about seeing this weekend?

Serge Aurier on the wing for Spurs? Danny Drinkwater spraying passes for Chelsea? Or Curacao winger Gevaro Nepomuceno at Oldham?

Will this man be back among the goals for Swansea on Sunday?

There should be something for everyone here. The passing purists, the tactical dissectors and just plain old lovers of end-to-end "heavy metal football" (© Jurgen Klopp).

City have played some lovely stuff in their first three games without blowing anyone away. Maybe a steady start, whilst still winning points, as new signings settle will bode better than last year's sprint from the blocks before a stumble?

Liverpool already look settled, and such a good attacking force (Philippe Coutin-who?) that they might not have to rush Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and a fit and re-focussed Coutinho into the team.

Will so many having travelled for internationals prove a detrimental factor? Not the way these boys do it!, external

Manchester City v Liverpool (12:30 BST)

It's a very, very, very wet and grey morning in Manchester. Autumn has arrived with a vengeance.

I've already seen one man in ill-advised brown suede shoes at the Etihad. Ruined.

But surely we are going to be served up with a classic to kick us off. Right?
