    Manchester City 0-0 Liverpool

The referee has an early word with Trent Alexander-Arnold, a few concerns that he is already wasting time at throw-ins. The youngster then makes an error under pressure from Gabriel Jesus and shanks a backpass out of play for a corner. City then waste the corner. All a bit scrappy at the moment.

If you give either of these teams space and time in the oppositions half, you have got to expect a chance to come.

Aguero doesn't look that sharp today. He looks quite 'leggy'.

City now having a spell of pressure. Benjamin Mendy links up well with David Silva down the left but Liverpool defend stoutly on this occasion.

I have watched Otamendi for a few years and he makes clattering tackles like that week-in-week-out. You would think Guardiola would take him to one side and say, "I don't want that sort of defending".

A yellow card - rightly so.

    Manchester City 0-0 Liverpool

Ah the wrong option! Manchester City break like, well like Liverpool, it's so open. Kevin de Bruyne has runners on either shoulder, he should release one but he shoots from range and that's meat and drink for Simon Mignolet.

Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp might be wearing dark tops but there is plenty of colour in the shoe department.

    Both have gone for trainers.

Klopp, fittingly, is wearing red. Pep has gone for brilliant white. Not a scuff mark in sight.

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 6 mins

    Manchester City 0-0 Liverpool

This game has started at the required pace. Mo Salah has grass ahead of him, nutmegs Nicolas Otamendi who has committed to the challenge and goes in the book. It's right on the line of the area too!

It's still weird seeing David Silva with a skinhead. He bends in a tasty free-kick from deep which is headed harmlessly wide by Gabriel Jesus.

The versatile Danilo, by the way, is starting in a back three.

Liverpool have started very, very brightly. They are in the faces of Man City. You would expect players like Silva to be able to hold onto the ball but Liverpool have come out the traps very quickly.

Trent Alexander-Arnold's corner is a good one, well flighted but new City keeper Ederson stays on his line and judges it well.

John Stones has a wild swipe at his first clearance as Liverpool start brightly, Alberto Moreno's shot deflected away for a corner...

In the battle of the press box room Manchester City win hands down.

It's a constant flow of food and they are champion of the sweet stuff; everything from double chocolate and strawberry cake to lemon meringue pie.

Liverpool are aiming to extend an unbeaten run of five Premier League games against Manchester City.

The Reds have certainly bossed City in recent times.

They didn't lose in 10 league games between 2005 and 2010. City didn't even score in seven of those fixtures.

    He certainly does Joleon.

In fact Sergio Aguero has scored in all five Premier League home games he's played against Liverpool.

  18. 'Pep will win the league'published at 12:28 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

    Joleon Lescott
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 live

Eventually Pep Guardiola will win the league. He will get the players he wants. City fans won't care how they win the league, if they keep clean sheets or not.

When he initially came I don't think he realised how disrespectful other teams are to your philosophy. Teams in the Premier League don't care.

Their defence may not be the best but we haven't mentioned Sergio Aguero - he scores goals and could be the difference.

So just to be clear - Liverpool are going to score on the break. Right?

I've seen three team line-up graphics all showing Manchester City's Danilo in a different position so far. The team are in the tunnel.
