Even with Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino on the edge of the City box, keeper Ederson still plays it short to John Stones. Pressure? Well dealt with.

Nicolas Otamendi (number 30) has started on the left side of Manchester City's three-man defence and that is where Liverpool have looked to attack in the early stages (see below), especially after that early yellow card for the Argentine.

Otamendi has been given little protection by left full-back Benjamin Mendy (number 22).

It's a slight shirt pull but I have to say De Bruyne threw himself at the ground pretty hard there. He knew what he was doing.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has made a fine start to his Liverpool career but a shaky start to this game. He's beaten by Kevin de Bruyne and can only pull him over. Booked.

To Klopp's left, Guardiola had his head in his hands at the latest error by Nicolas Otamendi.

I think we have seen some decent football so far but we have only had three poor shots from distance.

It's the sort of game we were expecting without the early goal. Both sides are playing at full pelt, neither look particularly solid at the back. Emre Can shoots from long-range for Liverpool but he can't worry Ederson.

City have been on top but here come Liverpool down either flank. First Mo Salah burns off Nicolas Otamendi, and then a Mo Salah one-two stretches City down their left.

A Jordan Henderson cross finally has the hosts in more bother but Roberto Firmino can't steer in at the far post.
