  3. Man City in control - but concern for Edersonpublished at 13:32 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

    Manchester City 2-0 Liverpool

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

Manchester City's supporters are very satisfied as they go in at half-time with a commanding two-goal lead.

The delight is tempered, however, by that injury to goalkeeper Ederson in the collision that led to Sadio Mane's red card.

It was such a brave piece of goalkeeping, knowing there was a real chance he could take a heavy blow, and it is to be hoped the consequences are not serious.

The latest report is that Ederson has not been taken to hospital, he is still in the medical room inside the stadium.

Ederson was looking a presence in that net for Manchester City. He knew he was going to get clattered there but he was brave and unfortunately he was caught in the head.

The ref has gone by the rule book and I think it was a good decision. Even though Sadio Mane's eyes were not on the ball, his boot was high.

  6. 'Ross can come good again'published at 13:30 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

    Everton v Tottenham (15:00 BST)

    Roberto Martinez
    Belgium manager on 5 live

I know Ross Barkley well, he loves the game. He is passionate about training, being involved. He will not lose his way. From a distance I am trying to see how he can reverse the situation. He is a young player who has already been to a World Cup, he has not become a bad player overnight.

Ross has the mentality to come good again and become important again. I am looking forward to that moment.

  10. Serious foul playpublished at 13:26 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

    Was it a red card?

Fifa's laws of the game for the 2017-18 season, external contains the following entry...

"Serious foul play - a tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play."

I don't thnk there was any intent at all from Sadio Mane. But it was a challenge that definitely endangered the safety of Ederson.

It's an easy goal. Moreno is nowhere to be seen. What is he doing?

Liverpool look flat and all over the place. Every time City bring the ball into the box, you think "goal".

We could have more goals before half-time yet. Still Liverpool pose a threat on the break as that man Mo Salah makes a fool out of Nicolas Otamendi once again. This time Benjamin Mendy gets over on the cover.

    Gabriel Jesus

That one counts! What a great ball in from the left this time by Kevin de Bruyne, Gabriel Jesus is unmarked in the six-yard box for a second time, is onside, and buries it past Simon Mignolet.

I didn't actually see the fourth official signal how long we will be playing on for but it should be at least nine minutes. City now looking dominant against the 10 men.

Cheers all round as Gabriel Jesus heads home Kevin de Bruyne's fine ball from the right - but the flag was up. Correct decision.

Lovely ball in from the left by Benjamin Mendy! That's lovely, cutting out the Liverpool defence and finding opposite wing-back Kyle Walker at the far post.
