"It must be right up there for goal of the season."

Dundee manager Neil McCann thinks his side need to be a "bit more nasty" in midfield after their meek 2-1 defeat at home to Ross County.

"I felt we started okay and looked a threat and latter part we did well," he said.

"The bit in between was not good enough and Ross County dominated us in the middle of the pitch, which is disappointing as we have two combative players in there.

"We looked hesitant going forward and I'm also disappointed with losing two goals from set-pieces.

"Overall, I am disappointed with the start of the campaign and will be looking for a reaction come Wednesday [against Dundee United in the League Cup]."

Ross County manager Jim McIntyre is delighted with his side's first opening-day win in seven years.

"I thought first half we were excellent and should have hit the net at least once more," he told BBC Radio Scotland.

"It was nervous close to the end and it was like the Alamo.

"But the boys dug in and threw their bodies on the line.

"We spoke about getting more goals from the middle of the park and two guys from the middle scored today."

Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor says his side's 4-1 win over Hearts has sent out a message to their Premiership rivals.

Hearts interim head coach Jon Daly has hit back at Brendan Rodgers' comments following the sacking of Ian Cathro, but the Celtic boss has defended his right to speak his mind.

Hibs head coach Neil Lennon is not getting carried away with a fine 3-1 win over Partick Thistle.

"We were dozy at their goal, but the reaction was excellent," he told BBC Radio Scotland.

"We have goalscorers in this team and I thought Simon Murray was brilliant in his debut at this level.

"Staying up is the first option and I am looking for consistency of performance.

"This is a good league, but it is a very good start."
