    Despite a few sparks of life towards the latter stages from Thistle, this has the feel of game-over. Hibs are in cruise control now after showing enough power to get themselves into a 3-1 lead. Three points look like being the reward for the Easter Road side for a job well done. Martin Boyle looks like he can be a big player for Hibs this season, but lots of good performances.

    Kris Boyd goes close to doubling his tally for the day and giving his side the lead, but his effort crashes off the bar via a fine touch from Saints goalkeeper Alan Mannus.

    Brechin get their first goal in the second tier in 10 years, but Chris O'Neil's strike has probably come too late to prevent defeat in Dumfries.

    Easter Road rises to salute one of its fondest sons as the man who scored two goals in the hoodoo-ending 2016 Scottish Cup final victory, Anthony Stokes, replaces Danny Swanson to a hero's welcome.

    Kilmarnock almost take the lead as Kris Boyd feeds Lee Erwin on the right and the striker draws a solid stop from Alan Mannus with an angled drive.

    After that false alarm earlier, Gavin Reilly does get his fourth goal of the season as he fires St Mirren into a healthy lead with a fine strike against one of the pre-season promotion favourites.

    Substitute Kevin Nisbet is on the end of a chance for Thistle, with his looping header tipped over the bar by Ofir Marciano. The visitors are having much more of the ball but still trail by two goals.

    All these new signings at Rugby Park and yet it's the old boy Kris Boyd who brings Kilmarnock back into the game. He's scored more than 100 goals for Killie, has more than 200 in the top flight and notched the Premiership's fastest goal. Now he's brightened up the opening match of the hosts' league campaign - and what a strike it was!

    Tomas Cerny's right-hand post denies Simon Murray a second goal as Hibs tear downfield again. Martin Boyle beats Callum Booth, his cross finds Murray, but the striker hits the woodwork from seven yards out and Thistle scramble clear.

    Killie level things up at Rugby Park and, almost inevitably, it's Kris Boyd. The veteran former Scotland striker adopts a raw power approach to free-kick taking, smashing an effort from 25 yards into the corner as goalkeeper Alan Mannus is unable to keep it out.

    Martin Boyle has been a threat for Hibs all afternoon and he engineers the situation to make it 3-1 to the home side. Callum Booth brought Boyle down in the box. Simon Murray made no mistake from the spot. No bright start from Thistle this time. Hibs have taken this game by the scruff of the neck.
