    Maribor 0-7 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who scored his first Liverpool goal, told BT Sport: "We started with the right intensity, the manager said it would be a tough game and we couldn't be complacent.

"Even at half-time he was pushing for us to do better and we got everything we deserved.

"We were very clinical and putting almost all of our chances away. It feels like we have a lot of goals in us, we create a lot of chances.

"This is a competitive team, we have had a few results that have not gone our way and I'm ready whenever I get an opportunity."

  3. 'Close but not done yet'published at 22:16 British Summer Time 17 October 2017

    Man City 2-1 Napoli

    Manchester City

Man City manager Pep Guardiola on BT Sport: "It was an amazing game. Outstanding. Both wanted to play against high pressing. Napoli are one of the best teams I have faced in my career. If you are not aggressive without the ball you have no chance to survive.

"The situation is that we go to the next game and try to win that. We are close but it is not already done. We need one more victory to qualify."

  4. 'A really nice performance'published at 22:12 British Summer Time 17 October 2017

    Maribor 0-7 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp told BT Sport: "Our attitude was outstanding - we were spot on from the first second.

"We scored wonderful goals, played wonderful football and it looked like they (Maribor) were not very good but is difficult to play against us. I love the fact we stayed really concentrated in the second half, we controlled the game and it was a very mature performance.

"You can struggle in a game like this if you do not have a 100% attitude, it was very mature. Seven goals was wonderful, but the counter pressing I was close to celebrating it, it was so good. They are a really good football team and they could not cope with this.

"All over it was a really nice performance."

    Real Madrid 1-1 Tottenham

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris: "I think we were better in first half than second half, they pushed to the end, but we had good chances to score. It was a good draw.

On whether Madrid should have been given a penalty: "I don't know. I was a bit surprised but we have to trust the referee. But we stayed strong and they put on a lot of pressure, we could have faded. We deserve this point."

  7. 'We can handle it'published at 22:01 British Summer Time 17 October 2017

    Real Madrid 1-1 Tottenham

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham striker Harry Kane, speaking to BT Sport: "We are happy. Of course they are going to have chances but we played well and made it tough for them. A point at Bernabeu, you would take that every day of the week. It shows how far we have come as a team."

On Keylor Navas's second-half save: "I thought I did everything right, I opened my body, I put the ball where I wanted to and he made a very good save."

On seven points from their opening three games: "It puts us in a great position and we play them again in a fortnight. It shows we can handle it at this level and that what it is all about."

    Manchester City

Manchester City defender Kyle Walker on BT Sport: "We knew they would come at us in the second half but the lads showed good character. Ederson has kept us in it."

Manchester City defender John Stones: "A lot of runners in behind. We knew they played patient football and had attacking threat. We knew it would be tough but we wanted to play our football. At times it was great to watch. I am upset to concede the goal we did but overall a great team performance.

"We have put ourselves in a good position. There are a lot of games to play still. This was a good test to see where we are at."

    Maribor 0-7 Liverpool

That was Liverpool's biggest away win in Europe.

In fact, the biggest away win for any English side ever.

Decent, but I feel the Liverpool Under-11s would also have done well against Maribor.

  11. 'It was a great game'published at 21:48 British Summer Time 17 October 2017

    Maribor 0-7 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, who scored twice in their 7-0 win at Maribor, told BT Sport: "I think it was a great game, we did good, it was an important result for us and we have to keep looking forward.

"The team did good, we had a good result and that is the most important thing. I'm very happy, now we have to concentrate on improving the results in the Premier League and keep on moving forward.

"We had bad luck in the last three or four games. Everyone was confident a good result was coming."

  12. Relief for Citypublished at 21:44 British Summer Time 17 October 2017

    Man City 2-1 Napoli

Job done, and Manchester City maintain their 100% start in Group F, but the second half tonight was a reminder that, after some recent spectacular results, they are not just going to have things their own way when they meet top-quality opposition this season.

Napoli adapted after being under the cosh for most of the first half and asked far more questions after the break than City posed at the other end.

For the first time this season the home fans at the Etihad were relieved when the final whistle went and when these sides meet next, at Stadium San Paolo on 1 November, it should be pretty tasty.
