    Real Madrid 0-1 Tottenham

Tottenham are doing a number on Real Madrid at the moment and the hosts do not like it one bit.

Cristiano Ronaldo is being wound up by Jan Vertonghen in the penalty area and the Portuguese lashes out at the Belgian, earning him a booking.

To get a result against teams like this, in stadiums like this, you need to get a bit of luck. That's what Spurs got when Ronaldo hit the post and Benzema missed the target with the follow up.

After the first 15 minutes, where they looked a little bit intimidated, they have created the better chances.

  3. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:19 British Summer Time 17 October 2017

    Real Madrid 0-1 Tottenham

Real Madrid have turned it up a notch after falling behind at home.

Eric Dier decides to stand off Isco and the Real Madrid midfielder forces Hugo Lloris into a sharp save to his left.

Another Liverpool opportunity, but this time Mohamed Salah's dipping shot is kept out by the Maribor goalkeeper.

  5. City in full flow, Napoli have not got started...published at 20:17 British Summer Time 17 October 2017

    Man City 2-0 Napoli

    Chris Bevan
    BBC Sport at Etihad Stadium

I have to say we've not seen much "Sarri-ball" from Napoli yet - their attempts at a high press have not stopped Manchester City from playing out from the back, and the Italian side's own attempts to get some quick-fire passing going have not resulted in a single shot, on or off target, in the first 25 minutes.

City, on the other hand, look dangerous whenever they come forward. Napoli cannot cope with the pace of Leroy Sane or Raheem Sterling on the left or right. Along with Gabriel Jesus, they are seeing plenty of the ball and, with David Silva and Kevin de Bruyne pulling the strings, also getting plenty of chances in front of goal.

The home fans are loving every minute of this, and they want more goals.

  6. CLOSE!published at 20:17 British Summer Time 17 October 2017

    Man City 2-0 Napoli

City are inches away from scoring again. This time it is Pepe Reina and Kalidou Koulibaly who come to Napoli's rescue, with the former taking the sting off Gabriel Jesus' shot on the turn before the latter blocks on the line before clearing. It could easily be 4-0.

  7. CLOSE!published at 20:16 British Summer Time 17 October 2017

    Maribor 0-3 Liverpool

    Ah, Maribor are still here.

The hosts work their first opening but Mitja Viler's low strikes is an easy save for Loris Karius.

It is a great break down the right by Spurs. I think it will go down as an own goal though. It comes off Varane's shin. Kane put him under pressure and Varane panicked.

It will give Tottenham so much confidence.

    Raphael Varane own goal

Tottenham break forward down the right and Serge Aurier plays a lovely ball into the box which Harry Kane attempts to flick towards goal.

It takes a touch off Real defender Raphael Varane and loops into the roof of the net.

Absolute scenes at the Bernabeu and three English sides lead.

  10. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:13 British Summer Time 17 October 2017

    Man City 2-0 Napoli

Brilliant attacking move from Manchester City, they really are playing some glorious football.

The home side move swiftly from back to front and Leroy Sane lays on team-mate Kevin de Bruyne.

The Belgian looks up and curls an effort at goal from 25-30 yards out which rattles the underside of the crossbar.

    Got to watch Sergio Ramos.

The Real Madrid centre-back trots up for a corner but cannot direct his header on target.

Spurs then break forward and Harry Winks curls over the bar.

One way traffic in Maribor. Not going well for Darko Milanic's side.

Recognise the name? He is the former Leeds manager that lasted just six games at Elland Road from September to October 2014.

The hosts are still to test Loris Karius with three of Liverpool's first four shots on target ending up in the back of the Maribor net.

If the referee had given that I don't think anybody could have had an argument. Casemiro gets a bit of the ball but he clearly takes out Llorente's standing foot.

  15. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 20:08 British Summer Time 17 October 2017

    Real Madrid 0-0 Tottenham

Big Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente is down in the box under a challenge from Casemiro.

Harry Kane looks to the referee and screams for a penalty.

    Does he get his wish?

No, the Real Madrid man got a nick on the ball before the Spurs striker went down under him.

  16. CLOSE!published at 20:07 British Summer Time 17 October 2017

    Real Madrid 0-0 Tottenham

Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo's play is telepathic. The Real Madrid pair work in tandem again, Ronaldo collecting his pal's pass before drilling a low shot just wide of the left-hand post.

And then... Spurs create their first chance.

Harry Kane - who else? - leaps like he has a pair of springs on the bottom of his boots to meet Christian Eriksen's right-wing corner, powering a header goalwards. Keylor Navas acrobatically tips it over.

    Mohamed Salah

    And there is the third.

Roberto Firmino rides a couple of challenges and slots the ball through to Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian finishes smartly, slipping the ball through the legs of Maribor goalkeeper Jasmin Handanovic.

That is more like it from Liverpool, taking their chances.

    Real Madrid 0-0 Tottenham

You won't be surprised to learn that the team in white are hogging the ball in the Bernabeu. That's obviously not Spurs.

The visitors, wearing their dark purple (?) third kit, have not ventured into the home half too often yet. Serge Aurier fires in a low cross from the right but Keylor Navas easily gathers.

    Maribor 0-2 Liverpool

Two quick chances for Liverpool, they should be home with the three points by now.

Goalscorer Roberto Firmino flicks an effort wide and Alberto Moreno hits the side netting in the space of 30 seconds.
