    Benfica 0-0 Manchester United

Benfica's teenage keeper Mile Svilar has some work to do on corners - he punches one horribly over his own bar. That could have gone anywhere!

  2. Postpublished at 60 mins

    Chelsea 2-1 Roma

Antonio Conte gets a telling off from the referee for straying outside of his technical area and his side look in better shape since that change, with Pedro and Eden Hazard wide. Roma still look a threat though, Gerson going close to meeting a header in the middle.

    Benfica 0-0 Manchester United

Good dig from Nemanja Matic, who's at least 25 yards out but smacks a piledriver, always rising over the top.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 57 mins

    Chelsea 2-1 Roma

David Luiz is replaced straight after that run up field and he's not happy at all! Fuming. But Chelsea can't get a grip in the middle at all.

Pedro is the man coming on, with a full sheet of A4 instructions for Cesc Fabregas. Luiz goes down the tunnel.

  5. CLOSE!published at 55 mins

    Chelsea 2-1 Roma

Roma are having a real go! They have had 64% of possession with Chelsea happy to sit and hit, but it's a dangerous tactic. And Roma almost level as Diego Perotti frees Aleksandar Kolarov on the overlap, he fires it across goal and Thibaut Courtois does well to kick it clear.

David Luiz then charges upfield and almost plays in Alvaro Morata for a third but he's offside...

    Benfica 0-0 Manchester United

Good strike! Marcus Rashford hits a shot on the bounce, gets the outside of his boot wrapped around it and dips a shot on goal but it's a reasonably comfortable stop for Mile Svilar. At the other end Antonio Valencia does well to clear at the back post.

Celtic are slipping south fast at the Allianz Areana.

Bayern Munich have been full of clever touches and darting runs, but there is nothing too complex about their third.

A wicked corner delivery from Arjen Robben and Mats Hummels is up highest to glance into the far corner with Craig Gordon nowhere.

    Anderlecht 0-2 Paris St Germain

    Edinson CavaniImage source, AFP

Paris St Germain are 2-0 up at the break in Belgium with Edison Cavani nodding in after a rebound from Neymar's shot was put into his path by Kylian Mbappe.

But the French high-rollers have not had it all their own way by a long way with Anderlecht pressing hard without registering on the scoreline.

That is what a bleeding edge forward line gets you though.

This is the eighth successive group game in which PSG have scored two goals or more.

A few of you were complaining on twitter at half-time at how often Manchester United had been caught offside - and there's number seven! Marcus Rashford too far ahead again...

Josh Earl: Rarely have I watched a 45 minutes as frustrating from United.. How many times offside? And how many loose passes? Awful

Master of the realm: United lack precision in their attacking play. Poor decisions, sloppy passing needless offsides. Needs working on.

    Benfica 0-0 Man Utd

    Phil Neville
Former England & Man Utd defender on BBC Radio 5 live

Benfica had the best of the first 20 minutes but Manchester United grew into the game. They have been caught offside so much. There is space in behind the defence and Jose Mourinho will be saying, 'take more care in possession and we will get goals'.

This is a match where Romelu Lukaku, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Marcus Rashford will be thinking goals, there is so much space in behind.

  17. Pique sent offpublished at 20:36 British Summer Time 18 October 2017

    HT: Barcelona 1-0 Olympiacos

    Gerard PiqueImage source, Reuters

Oh my. Unscheduled drama at the Nou Camp as Gerard Pique is sent off.

Pique is marauding forward and, as Gerard Deulofeu's low shot is parried into his path four yards from goal, the central defender diverts the ball into the net with his forearm.

It was deliberate, but probably more instinctive than cynical.

Pique wags his finger at the officials but referee William Collum and the rest of his Scottish officials - including Conservative MP Douglas Ross - have got this spot-on.

    Second yellow and Pique walks.
