Benfica still pack a punch as Raul Jimenez has a header well blocked by Victor Lindelof. A draw for Manchester United would see them top of the group but just a point clear of Basle as it stands.

Miralem Pjanic drags Juventus back level at home to Sporting Lisbon with a wonderful dead-eyed free-kick.

Sporting goalkeeper Rui Patricio barely flinched, never mind dived.

Elsewhere Basle's strong campaign has continued as they go ahead away to Spartak Moscow though Taulant 'brother of Granit' Xhaka.

The Swiss side are a point behind Group A leaders Manchester United as it stands.

    Remember me?

Former Manchester City man Aleksandar Kolarov deservedly has Roma back in the game with a fine solo effort. He bursts past Cesar Azpilicueta and shoots hard and high from a tight angle, a whacking great deflection off Andreas Christensen carries it over Thibaut Courtois and into the roof of the net.

You can make your own luck, and Kolarov did then. Real purpose.

    Eden Hazard

Roma had had a strong spell of possession, with Chelsea just drawing nine men back and soaking it up, and the hosts then hit them on the break. It's beautiful in its simplicity. Alvaro Morata again breaks up a move, Eden Hazard carries it 40 yards before playing it back to Morata.

Morata opens up on his right foot, goes for a curler, it deflects up off a defender into Hazard's path, and he slots home his first of the season from close range.

Fine defending! Romelu Lukaku finds himself well out on the left wing and he bursts past a defender before whipping in a cracking cross on the run, it almost finds Marcus Rashford but, facing his own goal, Ruben Dias does really well to hook it away.

    Benfica 0-0 Manchester United

A decent opening for the visitors as Daley Blind whips in a good cross from the left, plenty of bend on it and Marcus Rashford heads it over the top. He rather mistimed his jump.

Barcelona are bossing things at the Nou Camp. And they have a goal to go with the 80% possession stats they have racked up.

Gerard Deulofeu's cross was turned into his own net by the Greek champions' Dimitris Nikolaou.

Paulinho has come within a crossbar's width of the second as well with a header against the woodwork.

  11. GREAT SAVE!published at 31 mins

    Chelsea 1-0 Roma

Belgian denies Belgian - and Roma really could be level. A flowing move ends with man of the moment Radja Nainggolan steaming up on the overlap, he hits the shot first time but can only side-foot it to the near post and Thibaut Courtois saves with his legs.

That needed the instep across goal. Wrong option from the mohicaned one.

David Luiz is playing like a man possessed this evening, relishing his role in central midfield. Not just the goal but he's really up for the physical battle tonight with a couple of meaty challenges on his fellow countryman Bruno Peres and then Radja Nainggolan.

That is some header! Midfielder/full-back/whatever Joshua Kimmich has Bayern's second with a looped header in from a good 15 yards. David Alaba picked him out at the back post but he had plenty to do, taking the pace of the cross and sending it over Craig Gordon's head, brilliantly.

A draw away to Qarabag earlier today has put Atletico Madrid in some bother in their quest for the knock-out stages.

Might last season's runners-up Juventus also be in trouble?

The Italians, who lost at home to Lazio in the league at the weekend, have fallen behind at the J Stadium via an Alex Sandro own-goal.

The full-back could not readjust his feet quickly enough as Gelson Martins shot thudded back off Gianluigi Buffon and the ball ricochets off him and in.

Chelsea lead but the manager has picked up a knock! Antonio Conte is rubbing his right knee after Maxime Gonalons' momentum brought him hurtling into the technical area and into contact with the Chelsea boss. Conte was not best pleased and made that point to the Roma midfielder.

  19. CLOSE!published at 21 mins

Excellent work from Alvaro Morata to win the ball back high up the pitch, Eden Hazard picks it up and runs and runs. Morata makes a decoy run to his right, giving Hazard room to shoot but he pings it wide from the edge of the box.

In the stands Carlo Ancelotti watches on. Where's his next move?

That's exactly what Manchester United do, three big men right on the young keeper at a corner but Romelu Lukaku heads against the bar from about a yard out! Oh, the referee had already given a foul. Svilar did not enjoy that.
