Laura Cain: Juventus, Barca & Atletico getting draws. Chelsea battered but all the talk is of United not playing well

Styleopedia: Chelsea have 38, that’s right 38 players on loan. Don’t tell me Conte needs to buy more. Surely not.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte to BT Sport: "When you lose 3-0, it means it wasn’t a good performance. Our first half was good, we created many chances to score, but to be 2-0 down was unfair.

"But in the second half, it was a really bad performance. Roma showed more will to fight and more desire to win the game. I’m very disappointed with our second half. For this performance, we all have to take responsibility.

"When you concede three goals, you must be worried. It means something doesn’t work. It’s very difficult now, but we have to analyse the game. We need to work on the tactical aspect. We are working less on this aspect this season. We have to look at ourselves. Tonight was a bad night for us. Just one night, I hope."

Elmir: It wasn't a poor performance, there wasn't a performance at all, what's missing is fighting spirit & determination

Adam: Tiemoue Bakayoko is surely up there with the flops of the season. Expensive, ponderous and half the player of Matic.

Investigator Duck: Bakayoko a one season wonder at Monaco.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers: "The disappointment of the players shows you the level we played at – I thought we were outstanding.

"We stayed in the game, stayed controlled and scored a wonderful goal. We were right in it and then conceded from a cross.

"There are so many positives from it. In is another step in relation to playing the level of game we want to.

"We want to make the next step - to get into European competition after Christmas."

More from Jose Mourinho: "Anthony Martial was the player to take penalties. He took it and missed, he was not on the pitch for the second one. The players were happy to take the responsibility, Romelu Lukaku and Ander Herrera but my choice was Daley Blind. That is my decision.

"We train, I analyse, I try to make the right decisions. Marital did not miss one and was taking them in training against three good goalkeepers, sometimes the choice is not the right one. Daley was my decision in the moment."

  7. 'Another win, more money'published at 22:10 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2017

    Man Utd 2-0 Benfica

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho tells BT Sport: "We have not qualified yet? Four victories and it is still not enough? We must get that point from the two remaining matches.

"It is better for the specialists to comment on the game than for me to give my opinion. I am paid to do my work, which I do, and the specialists comment. Let them do that.

"I am more than happy. We changed a lot of players, we broke the natural dynamic and routines of the team and we played a kid (Scott McTominay) from the academy. We scored two goals, did not concede, gained three more points, more money for the club because every victory means money and did not have any significant injuries."

There are many ways to win a game of football. Since the Liverpool game, United do look like they have lost a bit of momentum.

They are grinding out results but they are still winning games and keeping clean sheets. I think the criticism Jose Mourinho get at times is way, way over the top.

  9. 'We have to fight back against United'published at 22:05 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2017

    Roma 3-0 Chelsea

Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois to BT Sport: "We have to fight back on Sunday against Manchester United.

"Sometimes last season I had nothing to do in a game, sometimes I'd have one save to make. We have to react on Sunday as today was a bad image of ourselves."

Thibaut Courtois speaking to BT Sport: "I'm not sure how he scores that screamer but after 50 seconds you are a goal down.

"I shouted 'away' for the second goal but there was a lot of noise in the stadium and Cesar Azpilicueta let the ball go.

"I thought we played well in the first half but in the second half we seemed to drop our fighting spirit and I don't know what happened.

"It is hard to say what the problem is. This season every game is a hard game. We have to find that balance again.

"And keeping that mentality of not conceding goals and keeping clean sheets."

  13. 'Chelsea there for the taking'published at 22:00 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2017

    Manchester United 2-0 Benfica

    Phil Neville
Former England & Man Utd defender on BBC Radio 5 live in Rome

Chelsea don't look like a team who can play solid football.

I would play Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Romelu Lukaku on Sunday because Chelsea are there for the taking. But it won't happen.

At Anfield, Jose Mourinho was let down so badly by his forwards. They played really poorly and didn't turn up on the day.

I was disappointed with the performance but he was let down by his players. Mourinho brings criticism onto himself sometimes with his attitude but criticism of him is over the top.

Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic tells BT Sport: "It was good to keep winning and a very important three points for us. Benfica played well tonight but we showed character. I hope the supporters enjoyed it.

"Benfica did not surprise me, they are a talented team and I knew they would come here to play good football. I was there two-and-a-half years and they do not deserve to have any points.

"We have to be focussed until the end, we have to fight in the last two games and will go out to win them."

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay: "As a young boy growing up, you dream of playing in the Champions League for Manchester United.

"All those years growing up in the academy, watching the first-team players, I am made up."

United are winning games. That is what Jose Mourinho will say. They have a tough game on Sunday against Chelsea.

Mourinho won't be bothered about what is going on outside, he will just be happy they keep winning games.

He won't be worrying as long as they are still winning.
