Femi: Shocking. All over the place. Clueless. School boys’ defending. Alarm bells for weekend’s game v Mourinho.

Andy: Perhaps, if Chelsea didn't have 34 players out on loan they'd have a squad big enough to cope?

    Roma 3-0 Chelsea

    Phil Neville
Former England & Man Utd defender on BBC Radio 5 live in Rome

Cesc Fabregas had two behind him that did his running last season. He had the ability to play with more freedom and less responsibility.

When he plays in a two-man midfield, he gets exposed. Bakayoko isn't a defensive midfielder - he wants to drive forward too - and at the moment they are lacking balance without N'Golo Kante.

David Luiz at centre-half, I don't see it. I would rather see him in centre midfield. He makes too many mistakes for me.

I don't think he's a centre-half of that magnitude for Chelsea. I just think at any point in the game he can give you a mistake and tonight it cost them.

PSG's 5-0 win at home to Anderlecht coupled with Bayern Munich's win over Celtic has seen them both qualify from Group B. Anderlecht and Celtic are now vying for third-place and a spot in the Europa League.

Atletico's 1-1 draw with Qarabag means that Diego Simeone's side are four points behind second-place Chelsea in Group C with two games remaining. The Blues, meanwhile, have surrendered top spot to Roma.

Draws galore in Group D. Gonzalo Higuain's leveller for Juventus against Sporting Lisbon saw that match end 1-1, whilst Olympiakos defended heroically to secure a goalless draw with Barcelona. Only a highly unlikely series of events would stop Barca from qualifying now, but Juventus have more work to do.

Manchester United must wait to secure their qualification from Group A after CSKA Moscow beat Basel 2-1.

Daniel: The football may not be inspired but Manchester United are showing all the signs of champions; Man City don’t look as stable.

Ian Shepherd: Chelsea need to be thankful Atletico are playing so badly in the CL this year. Otherwise they'd be struggling to qualify

  10. 'Whoever sold Matic needs sacking'published at 21:42 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2017

    Roma 3-0 Chelsea

    Phil Neville
Former England & Man Utd defender on BBC Radio 5 live in Rome

What's gone wrong for Chelsea? One word. Matic.

It's as simple as that. The minute they sold Nemanja Matic was a mistake.

When you had Matic sat in front of you, alongside Kante, there was protection.

Whoever made that decision needs sacking. That is one of the poorest decisions I have ever seen in the Premier League.

If you ask any of those Chelsea players who they would want back, they would say Matic.

You replace him with someone who is going to do the same job! Bakayoko is not that player! He is not a holding midfield player.

They didn't replace Matic. I wouldn't have let him out of the building, I would have chained him to the training ground walls!

    Manchester United 2-0 Benfica

    Ian Dennis
Football commentator on Radio 5 live at Old Trafford

United laboured, they were fortunate as they struggled for fluency in what was a flat Old Trafford.

No tempo, no penetration, a lack of ideas. Benfica tested David de Gea all night.

    Roma 3-0 Chelsea

    Phil Neville
Former England & Man Utd defender on BBC Radio 5 live in Rome

The mistakes Chelsea have made and the performance has been really poor from an Antonio Conte side.

Roma dominated the game. It is a really disappointing evening for Chelsea. The mistakes they made for the second and third goal aren't characteristic of this Chelsea team.

They will need to take a long, hard look at themselves before the game this weekend.

    Roma 3-0 Chelsea

    Phil Neville

    Chelsea have been well beaten.

Every time I have seen Antonio Conte this season he hasn't looked relaxed. He would not have wanted or expected to come back to his home country and be embarrassed like he has done tonight.

  20. Jose's penalty callpublished at 21:32 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2017

    Man Utd 2-0 Benfica

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

It will be interesting to hear Jose Mourinho's take on that penalty.

Romelu Lukaku looked as though he wanted to take it, Ander Herrera seemed as though he might, then Daley Blind actually did.

Seemed like the call came from the manager.

Blind has never scored a penalty for United before. His last goal was on 26 December last year.
