GOAL - Arsenal 2-0 Bate Borisovpublished at 37 mins

    Theo Walcott

Square it, square it, square it, SQUARE IT MAN!

Arsenal have a three on two break, Danny Welbeck is desperate to shoot and keeps on cutting inside when the easy ball was on. A bad touch allows a defender in but all he ends up doing is Welbeck's job for him.

He toes the ball to Theo Walcott, free six yards out, and he slams home.

Henry, London: Not sure what game David Thackeray is watching, but Wilshere is doing well, may only be Bate, but he's been pinging it about well!

Les Pearson: Debuchy FROZEN out? Give the guy some respect. He has been injured for almost 2 of those 3 years.

Arsenal playing some cracking stuff at times. Olivier Giroud, Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott are a real cut above this level. But they can't get in Arsenal's starting XI in the Premier League. Headache.

They're queuing up, Arsenal have five men inside the area as Theo Walcott skids a cross into the middle but they can't find the final touch.

Time to be worried as Jack Wilshere goes down in a heap? No he's ok. It's a clothesline from Nemanja Milunovic, nasty that actually. But at least it's not ankle or knee and he's OK.

Furious though, he tells referee Robert Schorgenhofer to keep his eyes open out there.

Will Wicks: The box office at the Emirates had sold out signs up... Not sure what they have sold out of though. It isn't tickets.

Eddie: Of course Bambi on ice Welbeck couldn't beat the GK 1 on 1. Smh. We need to be more clinical!!

  8. GREAT SAVE!published at 26 mins

    Arsenal 1-0 Bate Borisov

That would have been some goal! Olivier Giroud plays a superb flick on with his heel, scorpion-style, and he then rises to nod down a cross into the run of Theo Walcott. Walcott slides in to volley but it's well kept out by Denis Scherbitski.

Arsenal's Group H is one of only three groups in the late kick-offs with qualification riding on it.

In Group I, Konyaspor have given themselves a chance as they lead 1-0 at Vitoria SC. They'll still go out unless Marseille lose to Red Bull Salzburg. That's goalless.

Elsewhere, eliminated Zulte Waregem lead group winners Lazio 1-0. Vardar lead Rosenborg 1-0 - both teams are already out though.

Lugano, who are also out, lead 1-0 at FCSB, formerly known as Steaua Bucharest.

David Thackeray: After the bright start of a few weeks ago, I'm afraid Jack Wilshere is going backwards (please prove me wrong Jack)

Eddie: Wow. Training ground stuff from this 2nd string Arsenal team. Impressive stuff!!

Great pass from Jack Wilshere to send Danny Welbeck away down the left, he's as surprised as anyone to find Bate keeper Denis Scherbitski 30 yards from goal on the wing and he makes a tackle/block.

Good keeping in the end, if a little unorthodox. From the school of Higuita & Grobbelaar.

Matt VP: I know this is Bate, I know it is our second string and I know it is a nothing game but our players suit 4231 so much more than 3421. Hope it stays for the first team.

Mathieu Debcuhy in the thick of it so far, opening the scoring and then he's caught by Maksim Volodko, right on the top of the foot. A painful one. Volodko is in the book.

Where do you see the likes of Wilshere, Walcott and Giroud playing next season? THey surely won't put up with a second season of only featuring in the Europa League/League Cup etc.

January moves for anyone? After a quiet start Arsenal look in the mood now.

Well done if you had Debuchy first goalscorer. Niche.

Ainsley Maitand-Niles stands up a cross which Olivier Giroud flicks over the top, Arsenal scent more goals already.

  17. goal

GOAL - Arsenal 1-0 Bate Borisovpublished at 11 mins

    Mathieu Debuchy

What a hit! Arsenal could have a penalty as Theo Walcott is tackled after cutting in from the right but instead of appealing Mathieu Debuchy just strides on to the loose ball and absolutely smacks the ball into the far corner from 18 yards!

Brilliant hit. His first goal in three years (where he's largely been frozen out to be fair).

You can hear the players on the pitch. Low-key.

In another lifetime this could be Igors Stepanovs' testimonial.

Ooof! Theo Walcott smashes a drive into the face of Nemanja Milunovic, and it nearly knocks him clean out! Great block, he's seeing stars.

    Arsenal 0-0 Bate Borisov

This match has the tempo, the attendance and the importance for Arsenal of a pre-season friendly so far. Bate can qualify with a win so they may push the boat out a touch as the game goes on.

And there's a decent strike, Mirko Ivanic firing over the top.
