Crystal Palace v Huddersfield (15:00 BST)

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on Football Focus

When you look at Huddersfield and Brighton, with so many years out of the top flight, it is amazing for their fans to be a part of it.

Enjoy the moment. We do not want them to go down. We want as many English players in the Premier League as possible.

    Chelsea v Burnley (15:00 BST)

One Chelsea fan at Stamford Bridge is proudly wearing a shirt with Diego Costa written across the back. He hasn't given up his support for the striker, who appears certain to be on his way out of the club.

Will Chelsea miss Costa's presence in attack? They certainly did in the Community Shield, not long until we find out if it is missed in the Premier League as well.

  4. 'Defoe has so much to offer'published at 14:54 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

West Brom v Bournemouth (15:00 BST)

    Dion Dublin
Former Leicester & Man Utd forward on Football Focus

Jermain Defoe is in the gym, the ice bath, that's why he's in the condition of his life.

At the age of 35, I played more than I did when I was 31, 32, 33 or 34, so for him at his age, he's still got so much more to offer.

  5. 'Who is going to score the goals now?'published at 14:51 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Everton v Stoke (15:00 BST)

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on Football Focus

Everton's net spend isn't great. Who is going to score the goals now Romelu Lukaku's gone?

Ronald Koeman needs to now inject more money into buying another striker.

  6. 'A top 10 finish the ultimate goal'published at 14:48 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

West Brom v Bournemouth (15:00 BST)

    Kevin Kilbane
Former Everton & West Brom winger on Football Focus

Losing Darren Fletcher is a blow for West Brom, but Tony Pulis has his team playing in his set formula.

This season though I think he might encourage them to be more open and creative, though of course he'll still want them to be difficult to beat.

A top 10 finish will be his ultimate goal.

  7. 'Chelsea might not make top four'published at 14:46 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Chelsea v Burnley (15:00 BST)

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on Football Focus

I'm really concerned about Chelsea. Looking at this team, with Alvaro Morata unable to compete and Pedro not available, where are the goals going to come from?

I think they might not even make the top four.

'You don't win anything with kids'. Manchester United lost to Aston Villa on the first day of the 1995-96 season and went on to win the title.

Are your team's title hopes up in smoke if they lose on the opening day? History tells us they are, unless your team is Manchester United.

The Red Devils are the only side to lose their first Premier League game of a season and still go on to win the title. They've done it three times, in fact, in 1992-93, 1995-96 and 2012-13.

Looks like the Manchester United loanee, 19, is lining up at right wing-back today.

  12. What art of defending?published at 14:32 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Watford 3-3 Liverpool

    Matthew Upson
Former Brighton defender at Vicarage Road for 5 live Sport

Jurgen Klopp will be very unimpressed with the finish to this match. Liverpool were ahead still creating chances, and should have finished it.

But the Reds' defence was so slack, particularly from corners, and more worryingly several defenders seemed far from keen to actually head the ball.

The art of defending seems non-existent so far in the league this season.

    Watford 3-3 Liverpool

If the first two Premier League games of the season are anything to go by, I get the feeling my typing fingers are going to be busy writing up goals.

It's ended 3-3 between Liverpool and Watford in a topsy-turving encounter. Head here for full reaction to that game.

    Defending is overrated anyway...

No Diego Costa for Chelsea, which is not a shock as the reports are that he remains very much on the way out of the club. What is a surprise is the inclusion of Jeremie Boga, an Ivory Coast attacking midfielder who joined the club in 2009 as a youngster from Marseille, but has spent the last two seasons on loan in France and Spain. This is his Blues debut.

Summer signing Antonio Rudiger starts, playing in defence, while Willian is tasked with filling the Eden Hazard-shaped hole in the home side's attack. Michy Batshuayi is the main striker.

The Chelsea bench also has something of an unknown quality to it (for neutrals at least), containing Charly Musonda, Andreas Christensen, Fikayo Tomori and Kyle Scott. Alvaro Morata is alongside them.

It is a case of as you were for Burnley. Summer signings Jonathan Walters and Charlie Taylor are on the bench. Another new recruit, Jack Cork does start in the centre of midfield.

James Tarkowski takes the departed Michael Keane's spot at centre-back alongside Ben Mee. Sam Vokes leads the line with Steven Defour the creative man behind him.

It's all new territory for Huddersfield as they prepare to embark on their first-ever Premier League campaign.

Terriers boss David Wagner, sporting new glasses for a new season it seems, was interviewed earlier for Match of the Day, which Huddersfield fans can look forward to watching tonight.

West Brom v Bournemouth (15:00 BST)

Tony Pulis signed a one-year contract extension with West Brom yesterday, and he's handed debuts to Jay Rodriguez and Ahmed Hegazi for the first game of the season, with Gareth McAuley sidelined with a thigh injury. Jonny Evans is West Brom captain this time around after Darren Fletcher left for Stoke.

    .

Bournemouth new boy Jermain Defoe is on the bench, after struggling with a groin injury over the past week. Record club signing Nathan Ake, who scored three goals in 12 games for Bournemouth during his loan spell last year, starts for Eddie Howe's side, as does his former Chelsea team-mate Asmir Begovic.

I saw a lot of these No.10 shirts on the way into the stadium.

Wayne Rooney has endured a lot of boos ringing in his ears on his visits back to Goodison Park over the years.

His appearance at Duncan Ferguson's testimonial here softened things a lot. He played in Everton blue that day and was warmly received.

Today Rooney returns to competitive action for his boyhood club. It looks like he will start up front with another new signing Sandro Ramirez.

A Rooney goal today would complete a fairytale return. It's very much a new look Everton with new signings Pickford, Keane & Klaassen all starting.

Crystal Palace v Huddersfield (15:00 BST)

A new face sits in the Crystal Palace dug-out - and there are a few new faces on the pitch too.

Dutch legend Frank de Boer immediately brings a continental feel to Selhurst Park with a three at the back system that was rarely - if ever - seen under predecessors Alan Pardew and Sam Allardyce.

Former Ajax defender Jairo Riedewald starts at the back, with Chelsea loanee Ruben Loftus-Cheek in central midfield and Timothy Fosu-Mensah as the right-wing back.

    Palace XI

Huddersfield name four new signings in their first top-flight game since 1972. Record signing Steve Mounie - a £12m buy from Montpellier - starts in the lone striker's role, with keeper Jonas Lössl, defender Mathias Jorgensen and winger Tom Ince also making their bows.

Ince is the only player in the Terriers' starting XI to have previous Premier League experience.
