    Chelsea 0-3 Burnley

Willian shows Stephen Ward a bit too much of the ball and the Burnley man hooks clear before Tom Heaton punches clear a cross.

The Blues are pressing, but still lacking that bit of quality you would expect from them. How long does Antonio Conte keep Alvaro Morata on the bench?

  2. CHANCE!published at 16:09 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Southampton 0-0 Swansea

Manolo Gabbiadini started really brightly, then went off the boil. But here he is arching into space just inside the box. A touch to steady himself, then a lovely curled effort that just drifts wide of the far post.

  3. 'They are not gelling together as a team'published at 16:08 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Chelsea 0-3 Burnley

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on Football Focus

I think it was a red card, without a doubt. He has gone over the top of the ball. He has almost broke his leg.

They are not gelling together as a team. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in that dressing room at half time. Antonio Conte looks like he is desolate. He isn't his normal, animated self.

There needs to be a reaction. Sam Vokes has just got too much for them.

  4. CHANCE!published at 16:07 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Everton 1-0 Stoke

Look up teasing cross in the GIF dictionary and this is what you fill find.

Erik Pieters with a cross from the left that has Jordan Pickford's blood rushing, but it eventually evades everyone in the box. Mame Biram Diouf was closest to it, and just a little touch would have been telling.

  5. CLOSE!published at 16:06 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Crystal Palace 0-2 Huddersfield

Huddersfield picking up right from where they left off here as Wayne Hennessey pushes Chris Lowe's long-range effort into Steve Mounie's path, but the striker blazes over.

  6. CHANCE!published at 16:05 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Southampton 0-0 Swansea

Leroy Fer smashes a rebound just wide after Tammy Abraham's shot is deflected by a Southampton body in the box. Beautiful turn from Abraham to make space for himself.

Then down the other end, Nathan Redmond drives on goal and has a shot deflected just wide. Could easily have looped in.

  7. Postpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Everton 1-0 Stoke

Stoke need to raise their game after a pretty drab first half. The intention is there but the quality severely lacking as Saido Berahino curls one into the stands. Mark Hughes is not a happy man.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Crystal Palace 0-2 Huddersfield

Nothing went right for Crystal Palace in the first half so Frank de Boer has made a change for the second half. Andros Townsend is on for Luka Milivojevic.

    Huddersfield, as expected, remain unchanged.

    Everton 1-0 Stoke

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on Football Focus

Wayne Rooney was in the right place at the right time. That goal will give him an awful lot of joy.

Everton were slow to get into the game, but it was a great way to end the half.

The weather today matches the occasion in this seaside city on the first day of the Premier League season - glorious.

Brighton's 34-year wait for top-flight football is almost over - and the Seagulls are definitely ready for take-off.

There's a real buzz about the seafront, and not just because the sun is shining. Whether you pop into a rock shop or take a stroll along the pier, all everyone wants to talk about is the football.

The actual seagulls just want to steal your sandwiches, though.

  13. 'We are top of the league..'published at 15:56 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

Yes, I KNOW we've not even completed the first round of games of the Premier League season yet, but try stopping Burnley and Huddersfield fans from enjoying how the top of the table looks right now...

  14. 'I cannot think of a bigger opening-day shock'published at 15:54 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Chelsea 0-3 Burnley

    Steve Wilson
Match of the Day commentator at Stamford Bridge

In 25 years of the Premier League, I am struggling to think of a bigger upset on the opening day of the season than this. I remember Coventry winning 3-0 at Arsenal in 1993 with a Micky Quinn hat-trick, but this is right up there with the biggest opening-day shocks.

I really am not surprised, because Chelsea have not looked like a team or a group at all. They are not working together. They do not look as though they are working hard - nothing is working and this isn't strong enough as a side.

Antonio Conte should have made major changes at 2-0 down, because now it is too late.

Look at that Chelsea bench - they cannot go and win the game from here.

  16. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Chelsea 0-3 Burnley

And what a first half for Burnley, who have simply outplayed the 10-man reigning champions.

Long way back for Antonio Conte's side.

  17. 'What a goal, what emotion and what celebration!'published at 15:48 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Everton 1-0 Stoke

    Dion Dublin
Former Leicester & Man Utd forward on Final Score

Wayne Rooney first received the ball 25 yards outside the box, and he laid it off. He then made his way into the box only to find the ball heading straight for him.

What a goal, what emotion and what celebration!

  18. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Crystal Palace 0-2 Huddersfield

Cheers from the away fans, a few boos from the home supporters as the half-time whistle goes. What a 45 minutes for Huddersfield.

  19. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Everton 1-0 Stoke

  20. CLOSE!published at 15:47 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Crystal Palace 0-2 Huddersfield

Christian Benteke directs a header just wide as Palace attempt to get one back before the break. The hosts have had just the one shot on target, compared to four for Huddersfield, whose fans have been busting out a few 'oles'.
