    Everton 0-0 Stoke

Stoke on top at Goodison Park. Are Everton's new signings struggling to gel? The home side are yet to carve a decent opening.

  2. CHANCE!published at 15:15 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    West Brom 0-0 Bournemouth

All West Brom here early doors - and it's another chance for Jay Rodriguez, who maybe should get more on this header. Under pressure, inside the box, from a corner, he nods wildly over the bar.

  3. CHANCE!published at 15:14 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    West Brom 0-0 Bournemouth

Brilliant saving tackle from Bournemouth's Steve Cook - his timing is perfect as he sweeps in to stop Jay Rodriguez from running in on goal.

But then as West Brom gather again Rodriguez fires another cracker into Asmir Begovic's solid gloves and the Bosnian palms it wide.

  4. RED CARD - Gary Cahillpublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Chelsea 0-0 Burnley

Terrible start to the season for the reigning champions!

Gary Cahill is shown a straight red after a very clumsy challenge by the Chelsea skipper. He was in possession of the ball, lost it and then lunged in on Steven Defour, taking his legs.

There was no malice, I don't think, but very, very clumsy.

  5. CHANCE!published at 15:12 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Southampton 0-0 Swansea

First real sight of goal for Swansea as Tammy Abraham should perhaps do a little better with a header under pressure inside the box after Jordan Ayew's teasing cross. Wide. Comfortably so.

  6. Postpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Huddersfield

An entertaining, open game so far at Selhurst Park with play rapidly transitioning from one end of the pitch to the other.

We've seen plenty of goals in the Premier League so far and the early signs are there will be more of the same here.

  7. GOOD SAVE!published at 15:11 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    West Brom 0-0 Bournemouth

Good save, Asmir Begovic keeps out Jay Rodriguez's quickfire snap-shot from about four yards out with an instinctive stop. Good to see he's paying attention.

  8. Postpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Everton 0-0 Stoke

Jordan Pickford - another Everton debutant - forced into making a smart stop at his near post, Mame Biram Diouf's cross almost caught him out. As it is it's a Stoke corner, boomed behind by Wayne Rooney.

  9. Postpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    West Brom 0-0 Bournemouth

Nice quick passing down the right sees West Brom carve a chance for Matt Philiips on the edge of the box, but the winger can only blaze over. Asmir Begovic untroubled in the Bournemouth net.

    Chelsea 0-0 Burnley

Chelsea are dominating, as you'd probably expect, but no real chances as yet.

Marcos Alonso, recognisiable from a mile away thanks to his lovely hair, forges an opportunity for the Blues with a low ball into the area for Willian but he's just beaten to it by the boot of a Burnley defender.

  11. Postpublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Everton 0-0 Stoke

We've got sunshine at Goodison Park - it actually looks like an August start to the season - and Wayne Rooney is already getting hot under the collar. He has a few choice words with the referee over a decision he didn't like.

Returning in the Premier League for Everton for the first time in 13 years, is Rooney. Can he make an impact? It's slow going so far for the Toffees.

    Dion Dublin
Former Leicester & Man Utd forward on Final Score

It doesn't matter how many games you've played in your career, you always get butterflies at the start of a new season. You wonder just how you'll fare and how your teammates will cope...

  13. CLOSE!published at 15:05 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Southampton 0-0 Swansea

He's really got to score - and Southampton should be 2-0 up already here.

Dusan Tadic stabs wide from Ryan Bertand's cut-back on the left - brilliant overlap from the England man, but Tadic panics, with the goal at his mercy. Rash.

  14. Postpublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Huddersfield

Welcome to the Premier League, Huddersfield Town!

The Terriers settle straight into top-flight action with a great chance to open the scoring. A quick break ends with Tommy Smith crossing for Tom Ince, who is unmarked in the middle of the box, but his shot is straight at the keeper.

Ince grimaces afterwards, he knows that was a great chance to get a historic goal.

  15. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Southampton 0-0 Swansea

Big chance for Southampton! It's Manolo Gabbiadini's header that grazes against the top of the crossbar from Ryan Bertrand's inswinging corner.

He rose so well the Italian, and Swansea were slow to react. Not the best way to start your season.

  16. Postpublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Chelsea 0-0 Burnley

The words "Forza Conte" and "Champions" are written on the banners around Stamford Bridge as play gets under way.

Antonio Conte flashes a smile at the fans next to the dugout. He looks cool and calm now, but it didn't take long for him to get animated in the Community Shield.

West Brom v Bournemouth (15:00 BST)

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on Football Focus

There is a sharpness to Jermain Defoe's play that he has always had. He is hungry, he wants to keep proving that point.

Eventually, I think it will get the better of him, but let's take a look at him after the first two or three games. They have got a good man in the camp there.

You get inspired by people around you and everyone wants to see Defoe in action.

  19. 'Everton will just fall short'published at 14:58 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Everton v Stoke (15:00 BST)

    Dion Dublin
Former Leicester & Man Utd forward on Final Score

It'll be difficult for Everton this season as they've lost their main source of goals. They have improved their defence but I think overall the Toffees will just fall short of the European places.

Ronald Koeman has spent money in the summer, and as a result he'll be under additional pressure this season. But so he should be - he's the manager of Everton Football Club.

Anyway, as a player Koeman was perfectly capable of handling pressure...

  20. 'I'm told the Huddersfield lads are ready'published at 14:57 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

Crystal Palace v Huddersfield (15:00 BST)

Former Leicester & Man Utd forward on Final Score

Points on the board and smiles on the faces of the Huddersfield players will be key, as the club gets used to life in the Premier League.

I'm good friends with Andy Hughes, a first-team coach at Huddersfield, and he tells me his lads are ready.
