Rajiv van la Parra is an excellent outlet for Huddersfield, capable of turning defence into attack quickly. He shows what he can do when he gets the ball from Aaron Mooy and charges up field, earning the Terriers a free-kick when he is pulled back.

Good, early pressure from West Ham. Their gameplan is clear, to get the ball to Andy Carroll at every opportunity.

I mentioned it was a fine evening in London a little earlier. Well, it's chucking it down now.

We're already seeing Andy Carroll's impact on this side. He's such a weapon when he's in the team. It's unfortunate he's not able to maintain any level of fitness.

    What a chance!

Andy Carroll immediately makes his presence felt as he brings down a deep cross and then fizzes the ball across the face of goal for Cheikhou Kouyate, who is unmarked, but he just can't quite reach the ball with the goal at his mercy.

Huddersfield fans will be confident they can keep their good start going, but I don't see it being as easy as that.

Huddersfield boss David Wagner, speaking to Sky Sports: "It's another challenge, a big one, a difficult one but I think like always we should focus on ourselves and I think we are prepared.

"We have to make ourselves independent from the circumstances around us and focus on causing West Ham as many problems as possible.

"It is much easier to play on this occasion rather than in the Championship on a Tuesday night."

West Ham legend on BBC Radio 5 live

When West Ham first left their stadium, they were good, near the top six, playing some great stuff. Last season was poor at the new stadium. We ended up 11th, which was flattering compared to how we played.

This season they were looking for the top half. No home games hasn’t helped. With new attacking signings, I think they’ll score more goals but they’ve started leaking goals.

To be fair to Slaven Bilic, the choice of players hasn’t been there. Manuel Lanzini, for me the best player, hasn’t been available. Andy Carroll is back today, with Javier Hernandez and Michail Antonio. If you get Marko Arnautovic and Lanzini back, those five are a handful from an attacking point of view. The big plus with scoring goals is you pick up more three-pointers.

It’s the wrong time to be playing Huddersfield with the start they made. West Ham have three of the next four at home. Seven games is a much more positive time to look at it. Hopefully by then everyone is available. Slaven is still popular with the fans. A win tonight would be a great start. Psychologically it’s good to get off the mark. What you want tonight is the players looking like they are up for it, and the fans get behind them. A win could start the season.

Edin Terzic, left, has been West Ham's first-team coach since January 2015

No manager has been able to find a way to unlock the Huddersfield defence so far this season, but Slaven Bilic may have something of a secret weapon.

His first-team coach is Edin Terzic, who worked with David Wagner at Borussia Dortmund. Terzic was the German giants' under-17s boss while Wagner managed the reserves.

“You can see a clear philosophy,” Terzic said of Huddersfield. “He brought in players who are very hungry, with a good mentality and energy.

“They usually play a 4-2-3-1 system. They are very compact in defence and great pace up front. He’s had a great start and they have taken the energy from last May and that play-off win into this season."

Former West Ham defender Danny Gabbidon, speaking to BBC Radio 5 live: "What’s been going on between the manager and the board - it has seemed the board is a bit torn and confused about what they want to do.

"At times the support hasn’t been there from the chairmen with some of the comments that have come out, but they tend not to pull the trigger that early and give their managers time to rectify the situation.

"I don’t think he’ll get much longer if results stay as they are."
