Bettering last year’s finish of ninth will be a tough ask as Bournemouth possibly overachieved a little in 2016-17, but the additions of Asmir Begovic, Nathan Ake and Jermain Defoe mean that it’s not an unrealistic expectation.
Eddie Howe has been a long-term admirer of the aforementioned trio, but their arrivals has meant outgoings were needed and possibly still are. Lewis Grabban and Max Gradel have already left with forgotten man Marc Wilson and third choice goalkeeper Adam Federici also widely expected to depart today.
As for last-minute incomings, Demarai Gray is one name that just won’t go away and bubbling nicely on the surface also is a certain Jack Wilshere. The latter’s capture seemed improbable 12 months ago, as it does now, but history has taught us never to say never when it comes to transfer windows.
