  1. Wilshere and Gray in for the Cherries?published at 11:27 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

    Bournemouth

Gareth Davies is a freelance sports journalist and ‘Shirt Tales’ author for Bournemouth’s matchday programme:

Bettering last year’s finish of ninth will be a tough ask as Bournemouth possibly overachieved a little in 2016-17, but the additions of Asmir Begovic, Nathan Ake and Jermain Defoe mean that it’s not an unrealistic expectation.

Eddie Howe has been a long-term admirer of the aforementioned trio, but their arrivals has meant outgoings were needed and possibly still are. Lewis Grabban and Max Gradel have already left with forgotten man Marc Wilson and third choice goalkeeper Adam Federici also widely expected to depart today.

As for last-minute incomings, Demarai Gray is one name that just won’t go away and bubbling nicely on the surface also is a certain Jack Wilshere. The latter’s capture seemed improbable 12 months ago, as it does now, but history has taught us never to say never when it comes to transfer windows.

  2. Outs more likely than ins at Derbypublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

    Owen Bradley
    BBC Radio Derby Sport

I suspect Gary Rowett would have wanted a much more comprehensive overhaul of his squad this summer, but that doesn’t mean Derby County will be that busy on deadline day. Outs are more likely than ins, though if Rowett can shift a bit of the deadwood then don’t rule out a late move for someone. He had talked about wanting two more attacking players in an ideal world, perhaps a mobile striker and another wide player.

As for Burton Albion, I wonder whether Nigel Clough was working under the assumption he would lose player of the year Jackson Irvine this summer, so don’t expect the Brewers to rush out to find a replacement. The loan market is where Clough will try to get lucky today.

  3. Everton reject West Ham's Mirallas bidpublished at 11:14 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

Everton have rejected a loan inquiry from West Ham United for Kevin Mirallas - but will listen to offers for a permanent deal.

Mirallas was also wanted on loan by former club Olympiakos but Everton are only interested in selling the 29-year-old Belgian forward.

He has had limited opportunities under manager Ronald Koeman, who dropped him from the squad to face Chelsea last weekend and questioned Mirallas' attitude.

Everton may also want to secure a replacement before sanctioning any move for Mirallas.

  4. Busy day for Burypublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

    Liam Bradford
    BBC Radio Manchester

It could be a busy day at Bury. BBC Radio Manchester understands they could be dealing with 11 or 12 transfers. Most of those will be young players going out on loan and three of those potential have already been announced. (Thompson has gone to Bradford, Alex Bruce has left the club, he was on non-contract terms and they’ve brought in Mihai Dobre from Bournemouth on loan).

Manager Lee Clark apparently wants another goalkeeper and a striker. Bury already have ex-Celtic keeper Leonardo Fasan at the club on non-contract terms.

  5. Palace agree fee for Niassepublished at 11:07 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

    David Ornstein
    BBC Sport

Crystal Palace have agreed a fee with Everton for striker Oumar Niasse.

Niasse, who had also been a £10m target for Brighton,, external spent last year at Hull, where he scored five goals in 20 games.

Everton paid Lokomotiv Moscow for £13.5m for him 18 months ago, but the Senegalese made just five appearances.

  6. Most bizarre deal of transfer window?published at 11:05 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

    Kevin Kilbane
    Former Republic of Ireland winger

    NeymarImage source, Getty Images

Neymar moving for £200m has got to be the biggest surprise.

When Paul Pogba joined Manchester United for a world record £89m last year, it felt like we were already seeing the record shift dramatically, but now for it to have risen to more than double that, is truly remarkable.

The money being spent at the top end has put the whole market out. Every player is now valued at around four times the amount they might have been before.

If you just look at Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's proposed move to Liverpool, for £40m, that’s a transfer that four years ago would have been about £5m-£10m, given that he is a player in the final year of his contract.

And for PSG to back up the Neymar transfer with a deal for Kylian Mbappe that looks like being finalised soon is truly incredible, especially given there are already suspicions over how they will comply with financial fair play rules.

  11. Vlasic nears Everton movepublished at 10:52 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

    Phil McNulty

Everton expect to complete a £10m deal for Hajduk Split's talented teenager Nikola Vlasic - but it is that high-quality forward that is Koeman's main concern.

Liverpool may also be in the market as sellers, hoping to offload £30m misfit Mamadou Sakho, possibly to Crystal Palace, and Lazar Markovic. He could be reunited with Marco Silva at Watford after he had a spell on loan under him at Hull City last season.

  13. All quiet at Man Utdpublished at 10:46 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

There have been some busy deadline days at Manchester United down the years, not least a couple of years ago with the famous fax machine episode involving David de Gea and Real Madrid.

However, the word from Old Trafford this morning is that it is all quiet and expected to stay that way.

The 'fourth player' Jose Mourinho was after seems set to remain unsigned after all.

  14. What's Mahrez up to?published at 10:45 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

I wonder how Riyad Mahrez is keeping himself entertained at Charles de Gaulle airport?

Have a scoot around the shops, watch some planes land, check the departures board... then what?

Swansea are still confident of signing Wilfried Bony from Manchester City.

Italian side Hellas Verona want the striker on loan, but City only want to sell Bony on a permanent deal.

West Brom winger Nacer Chadli remains keen on a move to the Swans, but the Welsh club are reluctant to meet the Baggies' £26m asking price.

Chadli is part of the Belgium squad preparing for tonight's World Cup qualifier against Gibraltar but his manager, former Swans boss Roberto Martinez, would allow him to leave in order to complete a transfer.

Birmingham City also hope to conclude a £6m deal to take the Spanish winger Jota from Brentford. It would be Harry Redknapp's 12th signing of the window.

The Birmingham boss is sure to be busy today and the Championship side has been strongly linked with a move for Brentford's Jota.
