Tottenham have moved ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign Fernando Llorente from Swansea City.

Chelsea have been close for weeks now to a deal for the Spanish striker, who has a strong relationship with Blues manager Antonio Conte.

But Tottenham have come from nowhere to have an offer accepted by Swansea and the move is appealing to Llorente.

Chelsea are expected to make a counter offer and the 32-year-old's destination is said to be too close to call.

If he ends up at Tottenham, it is possible that Spurs forward Vincent Janssen will leave the club on loan.

Tottenham had a quiet summer, taking ages to spend any actual money, but it looks like they are all set for a busy day today.

    They are already making moves...

  3. Will Jonny Evans be on board the plane?published at 09:24 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

    BBC Sport

Northern Ireland are due to fly at 11am ahead of tomorrow's World Cup qualifier in San Marino.

The question is, will Jonny Evans be with them.

Manchester City, Arsenal and Leicester are all interested in the central defender, but West Brom are reluctant sellers, as Arsenal and Leicester found out yesterday when they made fresh offers.

Northern Ireland coach Michael O'Neill has said he is prepared to let Evans delay his departure if neccessary.

    But will it be?

  4. West Brom fending off Evans interestpublished at 09:22 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

West Brom's main priority is fending off interest in Jonny Evans from Leicester and Man City.

They rejected a £23m offer from Leicester last week.

BBC WM understands Watford goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon is on their radar but the Baggies got most of their business done yesterday with the capture of Kieran Gibbs from Arsenal and Polish midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak from PSG on a season-long loan.

Tom Rostance is a man who never stops working. The legend of the live text will be in this hotseat later to oversee the business end of the transfer window but he's been on the blower this morning to chase up Riyad Mahrez's movements.

Rostance says Leicester have received no bids for the winger. Basically he is just sitting about in an airport.

    This window's Peter Odemwingie.

BeeMax: I'm a lawyer and haven't used a fax machine in 4 years. A pdf scan over email w/original to follow 99% accepted.

The one percent not accepted would probably be at Arsenal if the words 'Sanchez bid' are at the top of it.

  8. Busy finale for Swanseapublished at 09:08 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

    Juliette Ferrington
    BBC Radio 5 live

Could be a busy finale for Swansea as they try and get three over the line.

The club have been heavily linked with Bony, Chadli and Sanches - the latter looking the best chance at the moment of getting done; that's the big one. He worked with Paul Clement at Bayern Munich and would be a helluva signing.

Could see one or two departures from the Liberty Stadium as well with Fernando Llorente one of those expected to leave.

  9. Carlisle want defender and forwardpublished at 09:03 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

Carlisle United are hoping to complete a permanent transfer and a loan deal on deadline day, with manager Keith Curle after a defender and a forward.

BBC Radio Cumbria will know more as the day progresses.

We have what I believe is our first official move of the day.

Don't worry Tottenham fans, Harry Kane hasn't moved. Instead, Exeter City have signed right-back Kane Wilson on loan from West Brom.

BBC Sussex understands Club Brugge defender Stefanie Denswil is set to undergo a medical at Brighton and Hove Albion ahead of a loan deal. The move would pave the way for Seagulls defender Connor Goldson to join Ipswich, also on loan. The centre back needs regular football after heart surgery earlier this year.

  17. Mahrez to Brighton?published at 08:40 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

Think reporters just spend transfer deadline day standing outside stadiums getting increasingly concerned by a group of fans edging ever closer to them? Think again.

BBC Radio Leicester's Ian Stringer is currently sat watching a fight tracker to see where Mahrez could be heading.

One of Leicester's private helicopters has apparently been seen near Brighton.

    Could he...?

  18. Mahrez hanging aboutpublished at 08:33 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

It seems Riyad Mahrez is at Paris airport waiting to be told where his next destination is rather than landing en route to another destination.

The understanding is Leicester are yet to receive a bid for the player, therefore Mahrez's request to leave Algeria's World Cup camp was purely to avoid being on a flight to Zambia, when, or if, the call came.

  19. Mahrez not signing for...published at 08:30 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

The club Riyad Mahrez has left the Algeria squad to sign for is... not Arsenal.

Arsenal are not in contention for the Leicester winger.

  20. Where's Mahrez?published at 08:29 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

So what on earth is Riyad Mahrez up to? Is he just sitting in an airport waiting for the phone to ring and be told where to fly to?

I'm imagining him being like Tom Hanks in The Terminal.
