  1. Ipswich line up Goldsonpublished at 10:27 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

    BBC Radio Suffolk

BBC Suffolk Sport understands Ipswich Town are closing in on the loan signing of Brighton defender Connor Goldson.

The 24-year-old made his first appearance of the season in the Carabao Cup last week, after undergoing heart surgery in March.

Blues boss Mick McCarthy’s made no secret of his desire to bring in a centre-half, with Luke Chambers, Adam Webster and Tommy Smith all currently injured.

Otherwise it’s set to be a quiet one in this part of the world.

David Cowlishaw, The Wizards of Drivel Podcast:

Stoke fans will be delighted that club captain Ryan Shawcross has signed a new deal at the bet365. In an age of crazy transfer fee, the defender who joined for £1m from Manchester United represents a superb investment. The club's longest serving current player will hopefully add more chapters to a wonderful career at the club - who now boast an impressive strength in depth at the back.

Remember Jose Mourinho donning the cunning disguise of a baseball cap while he watched Manchester City versus Everton earlier this month? Well he's reached for it again to go incognito down in London.

Newspapers went crazy after they spotted, external the Manchester United talking on the phone in the capital. Trying to sort out a signing? Calling telephone banking?

  5. The cost of selling Coutinhopublished at 10:19 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

Recently, here at BBC Sport, we have accepted the help of a state-of-the-art super-computer called SAM (Sports Analytics Machine).

Professor of Sports Analytics at the University of Liverpool Ian McHale, together with his colleague, Dr. Tarak Kharrat, has built SAM and one of the things it can do is predict the impact certain transfers can have on a club.

We posed SAM a few scenarios and what impact they may have, including Philippe Coutinho's departure from Liverpool. SAM computes that they would lose about 2.3 points, and the probability of them making the top 4 drops by 12%. Costly.

Yesterday West Ham co-owner David Gold tweeted "Diafra Sakho is not for sale in this transfer window he is an integral part of our first team squad and will play a part in our recovery."

  8. Quiet day at Burnley?published at 10:12 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

    BBC Radio 5 live

After a flurry of incomings at Burnley, the club aren't expecting to add anymore new faces to the first team squad.

Still waiting on Nakhi Wells to be completed from Huddersfield but that was yesterday.

Quite a bit of noise around Ashley Barnes and a possible move away from Turf Moor but no real interest from other clubs as yet for the striker.

  14. What could happen today across Europe?published at 09:53 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

    John Bennett
    BBC World Service

France - Kylian Mbappe's much anticipated loan (with obligation to buy) to PSG will be confirmed and look out for any more departures from the club as they look to comply with financial fair play. Meanwhile their arch rivals Marseille are still desperate for a striker. Ex Fulham flop Konstantinos Mitroglu (currently at Benfica) is the latest number 9 in the frame.

Germany - Kevin Kampl of Bayer Leverkusen is set to join RB Leipzig ahead of their Champions League campaign. At only 26 he would be one of the oldest members of the squad. Bayern Munich's Renato Sanches is on his way to Swansea on loan.

Italy - Inter could be busy. They still want a centre-back (Man City's Eliaquim Mangala their top target) & young winger Yann Karamoh is expected to join them from N'Golo Kante's old club Caen. Meanwhile ex Manchester United winger Nani is being linked with Lazio and Verona want Wilfried Bony.

Spain - Relax, La Liga clubs have a bit more time. The deadline isn't until tomorrow. All eyes on Barcelona and that Neymar money. Thomas Lemar, Riyad Mahrez, Paulo Dybala and Angel Di Maria are names which keep cropping up in Spanish media.

  15. All eyes on Sanchezpublished at 09:49 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

    Simon March
    Fantasy Football Champion

    Alexis SanchezImage source, EPA

Alexis Sanchez is one name sure to dominate Transfer Deadline Day for fantasy football managers, with Man City seemingly leading the chase for unsettled Arsenal midfielder.

With 53 goals and 24 assists in his past 3 seasons, Sanchez is practically fantasy football royalty and the prospect of such an explosive attacking player reuniting with Pep Guardiola, and the embarrassment of attacking riches available to him at Man City, is, simply, eye-watering.

But therein lies the problem; at Arsenal, if Sanchez was fit, he started. But those rules don’t apply in Pep’s world, especially with some testing Champions League fixtures on the horizon. Can fantasy managers take a risk on one of the game’s most expensive players if they’re never certain he’ll actually start?

With that in mind, Arsene Wenger may not be the only manager hoping City’s fax machine breaks down today.

  16. No Man City bid for Evanspublished at 09:45 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

    Pat Murphy
    5 live Sport

There has been no bid for Johnny Evans from Manchester City since they submitted one of £18m three weeks ago - and unless they move through the gears in the next few hours West Brom will hold onto their captain.

It would cost over £30m to land Evans and Tony Pulis is now short of time to land a replacement that would compensate for losing a defender he rates very highly.

    Jonny EvansImage source, PA

Evans is not agitating for a move and there will be no Saido Berahino style tantrums if he has to stay at the Hawthorns. Settled with his family in Cheshire,a move to Manchester City would appeal to Evans but he is an equable character and remaining at West Brom wouldn't faze him.

So Manchester City have work to do if they want to sign him.

The same applies to Swansea if Nacer Chadli is to be lured away from the Hawthorns. West Brom are looking for at least £25m for the Belgian, signed a year ago for a sun rising to around £18m.

  17. DONE DEAL - FLINDERS TO CHELTENHAMpublished at 09:44 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

Cheltenham have completed the signing of experienced goalkeeper Scott Flinders. The 31-year-old has been without a club since being released by Macclesfield at the end of last season.

  18. Wolves hunt striker and midfielderpublished at 09:38 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

    BBC WM Sport

Wolves are after a striker and a midfielder before the window shuts at 11pm.

They're being linked with Newcastle pair Jack Colback and Dwight Gayle, as well as Porto's Brazilian forward Tiquinho Soares and Man United's 20-year-old midfielder Scott McTominay.

We understand Colback and McTominay would be loan moves.

Another rumour is Atletico Madrid striker Luciano Vieto. Wolves took Diego Jota on loan from the Spanish side earlier this summer.

Birmingham signed Harlee Deen from Brentford yesterday, while Ryan Shotton left for Boro but Harry Redknapp may not be done yet.

Including the permanent signing of Craig Gardner after his loan spell last season - they've signed 10 players this summer.

BBC WM understands are likely to be more departures than arrivals from Aston Villa.

Ross McCormack and Gary Gardner could possibly go out on loan with Sunderland and Barnsley, respectively, interested.

Tommy Elphick could also leave just over a year after he was Roberto Di Matteo's first signing, during his ill-fated spell in charge.

Villa chairman Tony Xia has tweeted this morning 'I really don't like this part'.
