Under the arch at Wembley where Jurgen Klopp has brought teams twice and lost - his Borussia Dortmund side beaten by great rivals Bayern Munich in the 2013 Champions League final and then with Liverpool when they lost the League Cup final on penalties to Manchester City in 2016.

So he'll be hoping it's third time lucky and actually Liverpool's recent record against Spurs in the Premier League is excellent, unbeaten in the last nine games.

Both teams come into the match on the back of pleasing performances in the Champions League and former Premier League goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer will be part of the 5 live team bringing you updates this afternoon.

England top scorer, champions league winner, multiple title winner - Rooney's been top class for over a decade. No one can moan that he's under achieved.

    Sean, London

Criticised constantly and always the butt of the joke. All the doubters need to zip their lips. Incredible technique from Rooney!

Arsenal CM pairing is the cause of all their problems this/last season. Lacks balances, no natural workhorse/water carrier type. Xhaka is a pound store Xabi Alonso, not a pound store Makelele.

In among the early season gloom at Goodison Park, goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has really shone - but he is finally beaten.

Pickford, a £30m summer signing from Sunderland, has played well but has not held one or two efforts on goal and this time Nacho Monreal was on hand to score,

The momentum is back with Arsenal.

Wonderful play again. Only Arsenal can play like this at times. It was just too tight for Sanchez to get it up and over the keeper.

  9. GREAT SAVE!published at 43 mins

    Everton 1-1 Arsenal

That's a belting move. Arsenal slice Everton asunder again, all one-touch and pass and move, Mesut Ozil laying off to Alexis Sanchez bursting into the area but Jordan Pickford makes himself big again and saves at his near post.

This could end with many, many goals...

The Arsenal wing-backs are in the game now. Hector Bellerin is in on the right but can only shoot wide when well placed. Arsenal ending the half as well as they started it.

Jordan Pickford will possibly look at it and think he should have parried it away elsewhere. He has time to react.

Jordan Pickford has had plenty of praise so far, Granit Xhaka dogs' abuse.

So naturally Pickford can only parry a shot from Xhaka and Nacho Monreal of all people reacts first to batter the loose ball into the back of the net.

Arsenal indeed into patient, probing mode now. Mesut Ozil almosy plays in Aaron Ramsey with a neat pass but it's a yard too heavy for the Welshman to gather.

You are looking now at an Everton who have set their stall out - 10 men behind the ball when they do not have it. They were playing high earlier when they did not have the ball but they are not doing that now. It means Arsenal have not been able to pick them off, like they were doing.

Paul Leonard: My oh my #DejaVu for #Wenger 2002 all over again, for all the tricks & flicks #Arsenal just don't like a battle

Why is Sanchez getting involved in something like that? Why is he asking for a fellow professional to be sent off? No need to run 30 yards to the ref like that.

    No card shown.

A flowing move from Arsenal with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil linking up, to Hector Bellerin on the overlap but his low cross is straight to Jordan Pickford. Plenty of errors in the game but it's a good watch. More goals in this.
