Former England full-back on Final Score

They were almost everyone's second team a few years ago, because of the way they played their football and the way they hired their managers, they were close to a model club at times. But they're in a mess at the moment, there doesn't seem to be any goals in this team. Recruitment has been tough for them, Llorente wanted to go to Spurs, and they haven't really replaced him - it was a big call to put all the pressure on Abraham in his first season in the Premier League.

And the hosts go to the other end and strike the crossbar.

It is striker Jordan Ayew from a tight angle, looking to put the ball into the box but it cannons off the top of the woodwork.

First chance at the Liberty Stadium falls to the visitors Bournemouth.

Joshua King makes tracks down the right and pulls an inch-perfect pass to Marc Pugh inside the box, but he scruffs a shot horribly wide.

Looks like someone has just been explaining the concept of a selfie to Gary Megson.

A fan came over just before kick off, held up his phone and for a minute Meggo looked bemused before smiling and posing for the photo after an explanation from the fan.

Not sure how popular a Gary Megson selfie would be, like...

The constant process of manager recycling is so frustrating. In no other world can you come in, do a below average job for a huge salary, get sacked, and just go on holiday knowing another job will come along again soon. It's madness.

  9. West Brom fans want excitementpublished at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2017

Tottenham v West Brom (15:00 GMT)

    BBC Radio 5 live

West Brom reporter Matt Wilson for the Express and Star newspaper: "For the past three years the fan apathy has grown quite significantly. The telling thing last weekend was there were so few fans who stayed around to chant for Tony Pulis' head.

"The bright lights of the Premier League aren't that shiny any more for the fans, they just want a bit of enjoyment. If that results in being in a relegation battle I don't think as many fans as three years ago would mind.

"I think Alan Pardew does play a bit more expansively than Pulis or Sam Allardyce. I do think some fans would like to see something a bit bolder."

Tottenham haven't got an individual who can pick a ball up and go past two or three players and open a door. I think that's why they find the home form hard. You have to have somebody who can open the door.

Tottenham v West Brom (15:00 GMT)

    John Southall
BBC Radio 5 live football reporter at Wembley

There’s no Danny Rose even on the bench for Tottenham this afternoon - we’ll endeavour to find out why. Kieran Trippier and Ben Davies return for Serge Aurier and Rose.

Will Gary Megson bring a ray of sunshine to West Brom's football? He's been out of management for a long time - his last appearance in the dugout was back in February 2012, when he was controversially sacked by Sheffield Wednesday after beating Sheffield United with the club third in League One.

He hasn't been seen since and there's every chance this will be a cameo appearance, with Alan Pardew lined up to take over. But Wembley's not a bad place to return and just over 3,000 West Brom fans, who are tucked away in the far corner, are looking to celebrate a win for he first time since 19 August.

It's a tall order but I think this will be tighter than many think. West Brom might just surprise a few here.

I'm hearing Alan Pardew is the hot favourite for the West Brom job and that an appointment could be made within the next 48 hours.

But Gary Megson's in charge today and nobody seems to have mentioned that in his previous spell in charge between 2000 and 2004, he led them into the Premier League. So, he's got pedigree.

Pull the trigger or hold fire?

There will be several club chairmen weighing up whether the end of November is too early to ditch the man in the dugout this weekend.

Well, BBC Sport has crunched the numbers and the last 10 sackings/resignations during October and November in the Premier League have resulted in an increase in the team's points per game for the remainder of the season.

If in doubt, sling 'em out.

  17. 'Bournemouth will fancy clean sheet chances'published at 14:37 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2017

    Swansea v Bournemouth (15:00 GMT)

    Mark Scott
    Match of the Day commentator

Swansea are the only team in the bottom five not to have made a managerial change so far this season and, although losing to Bournemouth would mean five consecutive defeats, Paul Clement is confident his job doesn't hinge on Saturday's result.

Bournemouth were second from bottom themselves six weeks ago, but the Cherries have won three and only lost to Chelsea since then.

While there was understandable attention on their Callum Wilson-inspired goal blitz last weekend, Eddie Howe's men have tightened up defensively of late too.

With Swansea struggling to score, they'll fancy their chances of managing three clean sheets in a row for the first time in the Premier League.

    Mark Lawrenson
    Former Liverpool defender

Sooner or later, the improved performances we have been seeing from Crystal Palace under Roy Hodgson are going to turn into wins.

I just don't see it happening against Stoke, though.

The Potters are also on the up - they have put together a three-game unbeaten run, and they are scoring goals again too.

Mark Hughes' side tend to go on runs which are either very good or very bad, and I see them continuing their recent form.

    Lawro's prediction: 1-2

Stoke City assistant manager Mark Bowen is confident Peter Crouch won't sulk about being on the bench again.

He said: “I said before the game against Brighton that it was the last minute when Mark Hughes decided to go for Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting, who can run in behind, and was proved right for the first goal.

"But Peter Crouch knows what we think of him and how close he is to the start that he craves.

"But the one thing you know about Crouchy is that he’ll train exactly the same, he’ll perform the same when he’s needed. It’s just a tactical thing how and when to use him.”
