Though Manchester City have, scoreline wise, scraped through their last three games they have dominated all of them and, in a way, their ability to do this with late winning goals is as much a measure of their prowess this season as their numerous comfortable wins they have already had.

David Moyes half hinted that there may be defensive weaknesses that the pace of certain West Ham players can exploit. The difficultly he will find is getting the ball deep enough into the City half to exploit such weaknesses. I think West Ham will overwhelmingly be on the defensive trying to stifle the attacking excellency of this Manchester City team.

The visitors really have their tails up now! They should be ahead, Ryan Bertrand is inside the area on the overlap and he goes for goal instead of squaring it, Charlie Austin would have had a tap-in!

A very good finish and it all starts from Lewis Cook losing the ball on the edge of the box. Southampton made it count. A simple cut back and Austin smashes it into the net. Southampton kept putting the pressure on and the goal was going to come.

Ah how has that stayed out?!

Southampton now threaten, cutting the ball back and it looks like a tap-in for Dusan Tadic but Simon Francis blocks it right on the line.

Another good save from Fraser Forster, Joshua King's low shot is deflected and Forster has to adjust his feet quickly to get across and down to it. Moments later Andrew Surman clips a shot well over the top.

Southampton have more than their fair share of frustrating players to watch. Sofiane Boufal is found on the left, he keeps the ball in play, flicks it over one man but then runs down a blind alley and ends up fouling Adam Smith.

Southampton have started on the front foot, the introduction of Nathan Redmond has been very good for them. Bournemouth have got to be careful not to invite the pressure onto them.

Nice from Steven Davis, a nutmeg on the break but the move ends with Nathan Redmond's cross being blocked by the chest of a defender. Half hearted penalty appeals from some fans behind that goal.

High tempo to the half so far.

At the time I didn't think it was a penalty but watching the replay you could clearly see the defender doesn't touch the ball but Smith makes a dive too soon.

He's had another look at it at half time....

The hosts now win a free-kick wide right. Can they deliver? Junior Stanislas whips it in, nodded out and Ryan Fraser's shot is blocked. They keep it alive, Josh King squirts a shot across the face of goal and it's nearly turned in by Stanislas sliding in!
