David Moyes will try to avoid a quirky statistic at the Etihad Stadium this afternoon.

If West Ham are beaten, it will mean he has lost at the stadium with four different clubs.

Last year it was Sunderland, his unhappy season at Manchester United including a 4-1 derby hammering here and his last two visits with Everton were a draw and a defeat.

He did win before that though, Tim Cahill and Leighton Baines finding the net in a 2-1 win in December 2010.

  3. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Manchester City 0-0 West Ham

West Ham already have seven or eight men inside their own penalty area as they strip the ball from Raheem Sterling. The pattern of play is set.

Manchester City v West Ham (16:00 GMT)

A kiss from most of the City players for West Ham skipper Pablo Zabaleta. He was a wonderful player for the club his weakness in his last year or so - pace - may be brutally exposed by Leroy Sane here. Let's see.

We think Michail Antonio is up front on his own for West Ham but who really knows. They've got two left-backs out there.

Raheem Sterling has listened to the manager, he takes tactics on board, his final ball is better, his end product is better. That final season at Liverpool - he's recaptured it, if not bettered it.

  9. Postpublished at 15:55 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2017

Manchester City v West Ham (16:00 GMT)

The mascots are in the tunnel at City, just waiting for the home players now. Pablo Zabaleta is there, you can sense how popular a player he was for the club as every single staff member has stopped and hugged the full-back.

Manchester City v West Ham (16:00 GMT)

Manchester City’s winning run in the Premier League is now at 12 games – the only two teams to go on a longer winning run within a single Premier League season are Chelsea (13 in 2016-17) and Arsenal (13 in 2001-02).

Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino, speaking to BBC Sport: "I think it was a fair result, it was a really tight game, both teams wanted to win the game. It was a nice derby. Obviously at the end of the first half they were a bit better than us after scoring but our reaction was really positive and for me it was a nice game."

On the penalty appeal: "I can't say nothing because I haven't seen the clip but I understand the reaction of the people because every single action it is important to take advantage. Now I cannot talk about our players. We (he and Sofiane Boufal, who made the challenge on Adam Smith) were talking about staying on your feet, that you have to be careful."

If you go toe to toe with Manchester City they will rip you apart. They have better players and they are more dynamic.

Manchester City v West Ham (16:00 GMT)

The bookmakers have been throwing around some silly bets today with this game. West Ham are heavy, heavy underdogs, that's for sure. But it's still a team of internationals (largely) with a manager in charge who has more than 500 Premier League games under his belt.

They should make a fist of it. Shouldn't they?

  15. 'A clear penalty'published at 15:44 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2017

    Bournemouth 1-1 Southampton

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe, speaking to BBC Sport: "It was a clear penalty. I felt it at the time. I could not believe what the referee did and to see it again makes you feel even worse, it's one of the most stonewall penalties you will see all season.

"We also lose him (Adam Smith) to suspension, so it's a huge blow. All he (the ref) can do is look at it and learn from it. I can't ask for more than that.

"Everyone wants to see diving taken out of the game but maybe he was looking for it where it hadn't happened. It was much better from us today. Today we were good, Southampton were good too, there was no thought about settling for a point from either side. But we were disappointed, having taken the lead, not to hold on."

  16. 'The referee apologised - it was a penalty'published at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2017

    Bournemouth 1-1 Southampton

Bournemouth defender Adam Smith, speaking to Sky Sports: "In the changing room I think overall we're disappointed. We should have had a penalty in the first half too but there were a lot of positives to take away. I got to the ball just before him, jumped to go over it and he took me down.

"For the ref to book me doesn't help because that's my fifth yellow card of the season. I spoke to him after and he apologised and said it was a penalty.

"I don't mind him admitting it but the fact that he booked me and can't' get it rescinded, I'll miss the next game. If we had got the penalty maybe we would have gone and scored another one. But we got a point and need to look forward now."

  18. More late goals?published at 15:36 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2017

Manchester City v West Ham (16:00 GMT)

    Guy Mowbray
    Match of the Day commentator

David Moyes was Pep Guardiola's first opposing manager in the Premier League, and it needed a late own goal for Manchester City to beat Sunderland.

On current form, the West Ham boss will have his work cut out to run City so close this time - or to improve things quickly at all with his new club.

For this one, in his own words, he's "got to hope that this is 'where you never know what happens in football' comes in".

What happens with City recently is that Raheem Sterling wins games late on for them.

Does being held close to the whistle mean their winning streak is near to ending? It might signal quite the opposite.

  19. 'We could have got the win'published at 15:32 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2017

    Bournemouth 1-1 Southampton

    Southampton

    Ryan BertrandImage source, Getty Images

Southampton left-back Ryan Bertrand, speaking to Sky Sports: "We can't afford to start that slow against Bournemouth, but in the second half we looked the better team.

"We had an up and down start to the season, but have managed to fix that with some consistency now. We would have got the win if... I didn't have two left feet."

On Bournemouth's penalty shout: "I was calm, i didn't think it was a dive or free-kick, I heard connection with the ball so I was calm."

I have this lingering feeling that City are going to score double digits at some point this year. I feel like today could be one of those days if West Ham aren’t at the races. I also have zero confidence in them locking things down if City get on top. But it’ll probably be a boring 3-0 to City.
