I'll sign off now. That was quite a game. Packed full of incident, great goals and some truly terrible defending.

Celtic's long unbeaten run is over but the 150 or so fans that travelled to Kazakhstan will be partying tonight since they are back in with the big boys in the Champions League.

Thanks for your company. I'm off for a lie down.

Progress was never in serious doubt following Celtic's 5-0 thrashing of the Kazakhstan champions in Glasgow last week.

However, there were some nervy moments in a crazy encounter at the Astana Arena, with the visitors' makeshift defence leaking four goals.

Celtic can now look forward to Thursday's draw but Brendan Rodgers will know his men will need to be much sharper in the tougher contests to come.

And some more from the Celtic boss...

"Our aim was to qualify and that's not easy given the route we have to take.

"What we would like to do is progress this year and be in European football after Christmas.

"If we can do that, it will be another great step forward for us."

More from Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers: "We scored three and could have scored more.

"Once we get the second goal, the calmness returns.

"We would want to be better than that but this is a night to celebrate."

  5. Celtic deserve to progress - Rodgerspublished at 18:44 British Summer Time 22 August 2017

FT: Astana 4-3 Celtic (agg 4-8)

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers on BT Sport: "We didn't defend well. Our possession wasn't good enough either. We weren't compact enough when we had the ball.

"I thought we were going to get through without the anxiety.

"They were on the ropes but they regained their composure.

"All in all [across the qualifying campaign], the players have been first class. They deserve to go through."

FT: Astana 4-3 Celtic (agg 4-8)

Celtic captain Scott Brown talking to BT Sport: "It was an exciting game for the neutral, but not for us. It was a game of basketball, and that's not like us. Usually we're very tight, but not today. European football is never going to be easy. We're a little bit disappointed not to get a draw at the end."

FT: Astana 4-3 Celtic (agg 4-8)

Attention will now turn to Thursday's draw. What pot will Celtic be in? They are likely to be fourth seeds, which makes life difficult, but a slip from Sevilla, Liverpool, Olympiakos or Napoli would see them move up to pot three.

Last season, Celtic failed to win a game in a tough section, finishing behind Barcelona, Manchester City and Borussia Mönchengladbach.

That was Celtic's first loss in 42 matches - since Barcelona left Glasgow with a 2-0 win in the group stages of the Champions League last November.

    That's quite a run.

So what has Brendan Rodgers learned today?

Well, I'd say high on that list is the need to have your first-choice centre-backs available.

Dedryck Boyata and Erik Sviatchenko are injured, while Jozo Simunovic missed out tonight.

Mission accomplished. Celtic progress to the Champions League group phase for the tenth time.

The tie was won in Glasgow last week with a thumping 5-0 win.

The second leg was just nuts. A wake up call for Celtic ahead of the real deal.

It's been a crazy game, with Celtic looking so assured in the first half then falling apart for a large part of the second.

Five minutes to go and then we can all get our breath back.
