I'm not sure many in these parts are filled with too much pride at the moment but at least Palace have scored in this competition and won a game, will Roy Hodgson register his first win tonight? Well he's made 9 changes, Townsend and Schlupp the two remainers and it's fantastic to see Pape Souare back on the bench, it's just over a year since the awful car crash that left him with a broken thigh and jaw and there were real fears that he'd never play again. He will receive a wonderful reception this evening.

Huddersfield make nine changes, as Florent Hadergjonaj makes his competitive debut for the club.

Roy Hodgson will be hoping to finally get up and running as Crystal Palace manager tonight.

The former England boss, who replaced Frank de Boer last week, oversaw a 1-0 loss to Southampton in his first game in charge at the weekend.

These two sides met on the opening day of the season, with Huddersfield winning 3-0 at Selhurst Park.

Palace, though, will be hoping Carabao Cup can kickstart their campaign after losing every Premier League game so far.

    Stake your claim.....

You could think those are the words of the Leicester manager, Craig Shakespeare, but they actually come from the Leicester Vice- Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha in his programme notes.

Leo Ulloa and Islam Slimani are starting tonight, but its Demarai Gray who the Leicester fans really want to see.

Gray, has played six times for Leicester this season, but only started once, which come in a 4-1 over Sheffield United, a match he scored in.

Tonight represents a big chance for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to impress his new employers.

The midfielder has been restricted to 57 minutes in three substitute appearances for Liverpool since joining from Arsenal on transfer deadline day, with the Reds failing to win any of those games.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said: "He played all the games for Arsenal from the beginning and now he comes here and is on the bench so it looks, 'Oh, not the best decision', but it is long-term thing.

"We want to use him and to prepare him also. It is all good from this side at the moment."

Summer signing Aleksandar Dragovic makes his first start for Leicester, but forward Jamie Vardy misses out after picking up a groin problem in the draw at Huddersfield.

Liverpool: Ward, Flanagan, Gomez, Klavan, Robertson, Henderson, Grujic, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Coutinho, Solanke.

    Burnley v Leeds (19:45 BST)

Burnley boss Sean Dyche's reason for loving the League Cup is brilliant.

“When it was the Rumbelows Cup, you used to win a TV if you were man of the match," says the Burnley boss. I gave it to my mum and dad. It was worth more than my week’s wages.

“When you’re a player at Chesterfield, you’re probably not thinking that you’re going to win the league, so you enjoy the games, and you get a nice little Brucie bonus, if you’re man of the match, by winning a TV, which I did."

Captain Mark Noble could return from a knee injury for West Ham, who have a 100% home record this season - played one, won one.

In fact this is the first of three home games in a row for them and they're trying to build on more encouraging performances against Huddersfield and West Brom in their last two games.

But Slaven Bilic points out in his programme notes tonight that there is still a lot of room for improvement.

He said: "We can't say we've turned the season around but we have the confidence and the pattern back."

Bolton on the other hand need to rediscover the confidence and the pattern after four defeats in a row without scoring a goal.

After looking in danger of getting the boot a little over a week ago the pressure has eased on Slaven Bilic after a win and a draw in West Ham's last two games.

"It's a big game for us and that is all we think about," Bilic said about tonight's game against Championship side Bolton. "We are very ambitious.

"If you have a look at the round that was being played a few weeks ago, most of the clubs are playing with good teams."

So has Mauricio Pochettino got his priorities right? After all a cup win and the chance to play at Wembley is what every footballer dreams of, although Spurs players already have the latter well and truly ticked off.

“I think, what it means for a big team to win trophies, is to win the Premier League or Champions League," said Mauricio Pochettino.

“In my second season at Southampton, Wigan won FA Cup. Where is Wigan today, with all my respect? League One. That is the most important example.

"Of course, I would like to win trophies but first of all we'll fight for the Premier League or the Champions League.”

    Hello!

Apologies for using a meme as old as the moon there, but I felt it was the most apt way of describing Mauricio Pochettino's feelings about domestic cup competitions.

The Tottenham boss has made it clear where his priorities lie - the Premier League and the Champions League, suggesting a cup run does not provide long-term success and using Wigan as an example., external

Thankfully, not everyone will think the same way and there will be plenty of sides in action tonight dreaming of Carabao Cup success.
