It is uncomfortable but you have to go through it - you can get ahead of yourself thinking you have it won and it can be taken away from you in a moment.

But at the moment the Republic look comfortable and organised and the Welsh threat has dissipated for now.

Wales have offered very little since falling behind to be honest. Hal Robson-Kanu's header is the only effort on goal since half-time.

As it stands in the play-offs, Republic of Ireland are eighth in the list of second-placed sides with 13 points from the admittable games.

Croatia are a place and a point above them. Slovakia are the second-placed team who are missing out on a play-off place as they have 12 points. Harsh.

A Wales equaliser, by the way, may well mean that neither of these two sides make it into the play-offs!
