That was thoroughly deserved. This is a game we were all really anticipating. It promised to be a mouthwatering prospect for both teams

For Villa, off the back of four wins, this was a massive test for them as well as Wolves.

They will be disappointed, but I can guarantee Villa fans that this is the best 90 minutes from Wolves all season. Overall they have been very convincing.

We've had some great nights here in the past and at the moment everybody is with us. The boys have been outstanding and hopefully that can continue. It is not about making a statement - it is about improving all the time. At the moment we are doing that, but it is about taking one game at the time

"As the clock was ticking, I was just staring at the referee thinking 'come on, blow that whistle'.

"I was just so pleased when he did. I'm relieved for myself because it has been tough and pleased for everybody, it was a great win for us. Sheffield Wednesday are one of the fancied teams, and you expect them to be up there with the array of talent they have got.

  20. GREAT SAVE!published at 77 mins

    Wolves 2-0 Aston Villa

Incredible double save by Villa keeper Sam Johnstone.

The oles are out from the Wolves fans and a passing move culminates with Diego Jota's header being stopped on the line by the keeper.

The ball falls to Leo Bonatini five yards out and he pokes the ball goalwards. Somehow it is straight into the body of Johnstone and he blocks it.

    Villa clear the danger.
