  1. YELLOW CARDpublished at 12 mins

    Wolves 0-0 Aston Villa

Robert Snodgrass goes into the book for a late sliding challenge on Ivan Cavaleiro right on the edge of the Villa area by the byline.

A good position for Wolves, this.

About a minute before Alan Hutton made a brilliant tackle on Helder Costa, just when the Portuguese forward was set to shoot.

    Wolves 0-0 Aston Villa

Ivan Cavaleiro and Barry Douglas combine really well on Wolves' left and the latter's cross is cut out by James Chester.

The ball comes back to Cavaleiro but he miscues his effort and the ball bobbles harmlessly behind.

    Wolves 0-0 Aston Villa

Villa clear another Wolves corner before Matt Doherty slices an effort a mile off target from range.

Ambitious, but it was one of those that sat up and asked to be hit.

Moments later, Diogo Jota is stopped from breaking forward as the referee calls the play back following a clash between Roderick Miranda and Jonathan Kodjia.

Wolves weren't happy the game was stopped with them on the attack. In the end, the official just has words with both players.

  4. CLOSE!published at 5 mins

    Wolves 0-0 Aston Villa

The header from Romain Saiss goes just over from Ivan Cavaleiro's centre but Wolves win the corner anyway.

The set-piece is taken short but it's poor and Sam Johnstone in the Villa goal easily claims it.

    Wolves 0-0 Aston Villa

This already has a big-game feel to it.

It's the 107th meeting between these two famous clubs, but they are playing each other for just the third time in the second tier. Those first two meetings were only last season.

Wolves have an early attacking free-kick as Alan Hutton puts in a stiff challenge on Ivan Cavaleiro over on Villa's left flank.

It's a game that captures the imagination, there's no doubt about that.

Villa are sitting top of the Championship form table, having won their last four games. As well as a settled side, Villa boss Steve Bruce has found a formation that has got the best out of players like Robert Snodgrass and Albert Adomah, who has scored four in the past five games.

If Taylor had been available, I'm pretty sure he would have put out the same XI that beat Bolton.

The managers will have very different approaches and it'll be interesting to see which is the more effective. A win for Villa may win over some more of the fans that a few weeks ago were calling for Bruce's sacking.

More importantly, the three points would move Villa to just one behind Wolves.

With a sell-out crowd expected and both sides in excellent form, Molineux will come alive under the floodlights on derby day.

Wolves' feared four front players - Helder Costa, Leo Bonatini, Diogo Jota and Ivan Cavaleiro - were battling for three starting places and Bonatini can justifiably feel unlucky not to start. He is a wonderful asset to have sitting on the bench, though.

In defence, Conor Coady was excelling in a sweeper role before his suspension. Ryan Bennett seamlessly slotted into the back three for the 4-0 win at Burton, but Coady returns today.

Villa's recent run of wins will be a slight concern for Wolves, whose two league losses came against sides bang in form, but they have also shown they can handle the big occasion. It should be a belter.

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo makes two changes from the side which won 4-0 at Burton before the international break.

Conor Coady returns from suspension to replace Ryan Bennett in defence, and Barry Douglas comes in for Ruben Vinagre.

Substitutes: Norris, Bennett, Vinagre, N'Diaye, Marshall, Bonatini, Enobakhare.

As for Villa, Steve Bruce is forced into one change as Alan Hutton replaces suspended left-back Neil Taylor.

Aston Villa XI: Johnstone; Elmohamady, Terry, Chester, Hutton; Whelan, Hourihane, Adomah, Davis, Snodgrass; Kodjia.

Substitutes: Steer, De Laet, Samba, Bjarnason, O'Hare, Onomah, Hogan.

All attention now on the Midlands, where there is a mouth-watering derby in store.

Wolves have been a revelation under former Valencia and Porto boss Nuno Espirito Santo, with the flair of fellow Portuguese Diogo Jota inspiring the side to second in the table at the start of the day.

Steve Bruce's Aston Villa, meanwhile, made a slow start to the Championship season, but four straight wins catapulted them up to seventh in the table before the international break.

Bruce celebrated a year in charge of Villa on Thursday, and his very first game was a 1-1 draw against Wolves.

With the hosts in fine form, the former Manchester United defender may settle for a point. This could be a cracker.
