I know they’re up against a world class team here, but Celtic are a soft touch. They were a soft touch against Paris St-Germain, they’re a soft touch again here. I was hoping that Celtic and Brendan Rodgers would have learned something from Paris St-Germain and they would come here and be pragmatic, be hard to break down, but they're not. This is taking candy off a child. This is exactly the same type of performance that Celtic put in against Paris St-Germain. They’re having three and four and five men up the field, they’re getting suckered at the back, there’s loads of space, the defenders can’t defend.

Easy as you like. Arjen Robben pings in a corner and World Cup-winning defender Mats Hummels rises highest to power a header home.

Joshua Kimmich has played every minute for Bayern this season and it's easy to see why. The 22-year-old full-back has been bombing up and down the flank and he scored a peach of a goal.

That header to make it 2-0 was his third goal of the season.

Celtic started okay the first 10-15 minutes. I thought for spells they were keeping the ball, they were taking the pressure off themselves. But it’s criminal, the first goal is criminal. I don’t know what Lustig is doing. He’s never checked his shoulder once. Surely you’ve got to be thinking ‘where is Lewandowski?’ The only centre-forward that they do have, their ultimate presence within the box, where is he? And to make matters worse, Gamboa sees him and is waving for offside flags. What is he doing?

    HT: Bayern Munich 2-0 Celtic

How does Brendan Rodgers respond? Kingsley Coman has Cristian Gamboa on toast but there is very little defensive cover on the visitors' bench.

Celtic can't keep the ball for more than a couple of passes and there has been a lack of aggression in trying to win it back.

There needs to a major improvement after the break if they are to avoid another heavy defeat like the 5-0 PSG dished out on the opening matchday.

  10. HALF-TIME Bayern Munich 2-0 Celticpublished at 45 mins

The Celtic players trudge off for a welcome breather after a torrid opening 45 minutes. Bayern came flying out of the traps and have not let up at all, playing at a ferocious pace that the visitors just can't live with.

Thomas Muller and Joshua Kimmich with the goals and there could have been a few more.

  12. 'Celtic lost their confidence'published at 20:30 British Summer Time 18 October 2017

    Bayern Munich 2-0 Celtic

    Pat Bonner
Former Celtic goalkeeper on BBC Sportsound

Celtic have lost their confidence. They have no idea of how to build the game now because Bayern Munich are pressing them when they have it. They’re just kicking it up the pitch, they keep giving it away and then Bayern Munich get the ball and when they have the ball in the midfield, Celtic aren’t able to close them down and the runs keep coming.

Kingsley Coman one v one against Gamboa leaves him for dead, knocking the ball by him and then just using his pace and a lovely pick out to the back post. There were actually three players lining up at the back post, but what a beautiful header guided into the top right hand corner back to where the ball came from, leaves Craig Gordon no chance.
