Just past the midway point of the first half and Celtic could be three goals down. If they were in any doubt about the size of the task facing them here, they know now. Bayern Munich have been really classy all over the pitch.

I talked about it before the game. Lewandowski getting in between people. He was in between Cristian Gamboa and Lustig that time and he just, so clever, just waiting for the moment for his little run forward. Not offside this time. A wonderful save from Craig Gordon but again nobody reacting to the second ball and it ended up a goal for Bayern Munich. It’s the movement from Lewandowski and Muller up front when the other players have got the ball and that’s what Celtic have really got to defend against. They’re not up against this on a weekly basis and that’s the problem. And you can see it’s a real danger. They will have to defend better, with better concentration, better positioning and they will have to sort it out very, very quickly.

Kingsley Coman is a real box of tricks and the French winger pops up through the middle this time to have a lash from distance. One bounce and it flies straight into the arms of Craig Gordon.

  5. CLOSE!published at 21 mins

No let-up from the hosts, who continue to press with impressive intensity. A corner breaks the way of Robert Lewandowski and the big striker fizzes a first-time effort narrowly wide.

    Thomas Muller

Robert Lewandowski is left in acres of space to meet a Joshua Kimmich cross. The Polish striker plants a firm downward header in the direction of the bottom corner and Craig Gordon does very well to scoop it away with a diving save but there is Thomas Muller to smash in the loose ball.

Kingsley Coman leaves Cristian Gamboa for dead to set up a great shooting chance for David Alaba but the Austria full-back can only blaze over the crossbar from 10 yards or so.

To be honest, it was really really bad defensive play from Celtic. Lustig was caught over in the right hand side, there was a huge gap. I think Boyata was pulled out of position. Lewandowski was all on his own. The pass, people can spot that pass, they play them through and I thought it was a penalty. I thought he pulled him back and it should have been a penalty.

    Bayern Munich 0-0 Celtic

Thiago blasts the ball high into the net from a Robert Lewandowski cut-back. Not sure why it doesn't count... There's a suggestion that the ball ran out of play before the sliding Polish striker crossed but TV replays suggest Celtic got away with one there.

  20. Robben reaches a Champions League centurypublished at 19:42 British Summer Time 18 October 2017

    Bayern Munich v Celtic (19:45)

Arjen Robben reaches the landmark of 100 Champions League appearances this evening.

The 33-year-old scored a late winner when Bayern won the trophy back in 2013.

Having won league titles in his native Netherlands, England and Spain, he has picked up six Bundesliga winners' medals during his time in Munich.

Robben called time on his international career last week, scoring twice in his farewell appearance as the Dutch fell short in World Cup qualifying, making it 37 goals in 96 appearances.

He might be getting on a bit but the classic 'inverted winger' still has pace to burn and a bewildering ability to change direction on the run. Everyone knows he loves to cut in from the right and shoot with his left but stopping him is quite another thing.
