    Brighton 0-0 Watford

A decent attack from Brighton but they fail to make the most of it.

Tomer Hemed sends the ball across the goal face from the left, and Anthony Knockaert picks it up on the other side.

He weaves and dances to try and make some space and sends a ball in from the right, but it's cleared.

GOAL - West Ham 1-0 Newcastlepublished at 15:05 Greenwich Mean Time 23 December 2017

    Marko Arnautovic (6 mins)

Awful stuff from Newcastle as they gift wrap and goal and stick it under the Christmas tree for West Ham.

Henri Saivet inexplicably plays the ball straight to Marko Arnautovic and he charges at the defence. Newcastle still have the chance to recover the situation but stand off Arnautovic for far too long and he gratefully slots in at the near post.

James McClean takes a shot from the edge of the area, which dribbles into the grasp of Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland.

Little fact for you: the hosts are winless in six Premier League games against the Baggies.

    Southampton 0-0 Huddersfield

Bright and breezy start by Huddersfield at Southampton.

They got at Watford early in their last away game and that tactic set them on the way to a 4-1 win. The Terriers are enjoying plenty of possession but no chances yet.

It's moderately mild around the UK today and there's a distinct lack of gloves on show as players take to the pitch at grounds up and down the country.

    Almost time for kick off.

He's definitely a fighter, we know that, but today is very important. This is a make or break game today for Mark Hughes, he needs to get something out of it so that the owners can see what he's trying to do there and they need to put in a performance.

  12. Sterling aims to shoot Cherries down againpublished at 14:56 Greenwich Mean Time 23 December 2017

Manchester City v Bournemouth (15:00 GMT)

    Chris Bevan
    BBC Sport at Etihad Stadium

The return of David Silva and Vincent Kompany to Manchester City’s starting line-up will bring some festive cheer to home fans on a dank December day.

But it is the sight of Raheem Sterling’s name on the team sheet that will strike fear in the hearts of Bournemouth supporters - and not just because of his late winner against them in August.

Sterling has scored in four out of the five top-flight meetings between the two sides, contributing six goals out of City’s total of 17. Bournemouth have managed just two in reply.

The Cherries have just been practicing their shooting here at the Etihad (see below) and for good reason - they have managed a combined three shots on target (from 11 efforts at goal) in their past two visits here, which ended in 5-1 and 4-0 defeats.

In those games, City had 36 shots at goal, with 22 of them on target - which underlines just how one-sided those games were. Will today be any different?

Lots of festive scenes and players wearing Christmas hats on the big screens here at Stoke City - but the Yuletide spirit might be in short supply if The Potters lose to West Bromwich Albion today.

Stoke manager Mark Hughes insists he still has the support of the board - but there is widespread discontent among the fan base and one more loss could force a decision on his future.

Talking of widespread discontent... Stoke City striker Saido Berahino has just received a reception that might be politely described as "tasty" from the supporters who once used to idolise him at The Hawthorns.

Some interesting quotes from Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins in today's programme.

"I can guarantee one thing, that when I eventually hand over the reins to someone else, we will have a squad of players greater in transfer value than we owe our banks in overdraft borrowings."

Much of City’s season so far has been about breaking records, late winners and celebrations - as Bournemouth have already found out.

There were no Santa hats on show when Raheem Sterling's 97th-minute goal at the Vitality Stadium on a sunny August afternoon on the south coast sparked wild celebrations that saw him shown a second booking - and probably annoyed Jose Mourinho too.

That result was the first of City’s unprecedented 16-game winning run in the Premier League. Paul Frayne and his son Ryan (pictured) admit they did not see it coming - and do not want it to end.

"It is so exciting," Paul told BBC Sport. "We are all really pleased with the run, obviously.

"Now we just want to keep on going but it is amazing to have kept it going for as long as we have - hopefully we will have another win to celebrate today for Christmas."

  20. You’ve lost that winning feelingpublished at 14:38 Greenwich Mean Time 23 December 2017

    Brighton v Watford (15:00 GMT)

    Alistair Bruce-Ball

Brighton haven’t won in their last seven games, for Watford their run has now stretched to five matches so both clubs will see this as a great opportunity to turn that around.

Watford need to keep 11 men on the field for a start having seen Marvin Zeegelaar, Tom Cleverley and Troy Deeney sent off in their last three games while Brighton have only managed one goal in their last six games and that was a penalty against Liverpool.
