  1. Blackpool fighting backpublished at 15:37 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2017

    League One latest

Plymouth are putting a little bit of distance between themselves and the relegation zone as it stands, with Gary Sawyer's goal putting them 1-0 up at MK Dons.

James Coppinger has given Doncaster a one-goal lead against Northampton, while Danny Philliskirk's strike has brought Blackpool back in contention against Scunthorpe, the hosts now only trailing 2-1.

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

I'm not entirely sure how Nottingham Forest aren't level here.

Ben Osborn has the latest Reds opportunity, only to be denied by keeper Joe Wildsmith's tremendous reaction save.

Adam Reach's early volley still separates the two sides.

    Tom Naylor (29 mins)

The home side have taken the lead, somewhat against the run of play!

It comes via Lucas Akins' shot, which is wayward but falls into the path of Tom Naylor to slide in at the far post.

The defender scored at Reading on Saturday and he has another on Boxing Day...

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Bolton

Still waiting for this game to burst to life at the Riverside.

Gary Madine headed Bolton's best chance of the game over the bar, while Britt Assombalonga has drawn a comfortable save from Ben Alnwick at the other end with a flicked effort.

Plenty for Tony Pulis and Bolton counterpart Phil Parkinson to ponder.

  5. Chesterfield heading to foot of table?published at 15:26 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2017

    League Two latest

Not much to report from League Two so far, but Forest Green will be off the bottom of the table as things stand, as 23rd-placed Chesterfield have fallen behind against Crewe.

At the top of the table, second-placed Notts County's promotion push shows no sign of slowing - they lead 2-0 at struggling Morecambe.

    Burton 0-0 Leeds

The pendulum has swung at the Pirelli Stadium and Leeds are having a dominant spell.

Eunan O'Kane, recalled today, crosses for Kemar Roofe whose shot on the turn is wide of the target.

Burton are penned in their half at the moment and need to push 10 or 15 yards up the pitch.

    Bristol City 0-0 Reading

Bristol City v ReadingImage source, Empics

It had been a turgid start at Ashton Gate, with Reading in the familiar situation of controlling possession but creating very little.

However their keep-ball tactics should have led to an opener, only for Modou Barrow to skew his effort wide from a very good position in the City box.

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Nottingham Forest have responded well after falling behind to Adam Reach's early goal for Sheffield Wednesday.

Kieran Dowell had an effort saved from 30 yards out, and Barrie McKay was unable to beat Owls keeper Joe Wildsmith when played through on goal by Liam Bridcutt.

At the other end, Lucas Joao heads a corner wide of the target.

    Hull 0-0 Derby

He may be a defender but Derby's Curtis Davies is on the hunt for a goal against his former employers - and he's gone close.

It predictably comes from a corner and the veteran's header is just a bit too high to trouble Allan McGregor's net.

Davies scored in the reverse fixture earlier this season, which Derby won 5-0.

    Burton 0-0 Leeds

The hosts have settled pretty well against their illustrious opponents as they look for a third Championship win on the spin.

Tom Flanagan lets fly from the edge of the box but his dipping half-volley goes just over the Leeds bar.

Burton are having plenty of joy down the right side, that's for sure.

  11. Iron and Millers make strong startspublished at 15:17 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2017

    League One latest

It's been a perfect start to the afternoon for Scunthorpe and Rotherham, who lead 2-0 at Blackpool and Bury respectively.

It's still 0-0 in the battle of first against second, with leaders Wigan hosting Shrewsbury this afternoon.

There's not been much for new Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis to get excited about as he watches his side take on Bolton at the Riverside.

The hosts are having slightly the better of the early proceedings, but neither side has been able to manage a shot on goal.

    Tim Ream (12 mins)

Perhaps justice is done in Wales...

Having been denied a penalty moments ago, Kevin McDonald heads Floyd Ayite's cross into the path of defender Tim Ream - who nods in from short range for Fulham.

Jon Toral - you ought to have done better there!

Hull winger Kamil Grosicki plays a cross into Toral's path but he can only direct his diving header wide of the post.

A let off for the visitors.

In fairness to Fulham - neutral onlooker Dafydd Pritchard, at the Cardiff City Stadium for BBC Wales, agrees that Bruno Ecuele Manga was VERY lucky to get away with his challenge on Fulham's Stefan Johansen...

GOAL: Nottingham Forest 0-1 Sheffield Wednesdaypublished at 15:08 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2017

    Adam Reach (5 mins)

Boxing Day is serving up some sensational football this year.

Adam Reach bags one of the best goals of the day so far, smashing Sheffield Wednesday ahead at Nottingham Forest with a peach of a volley from just outside the box.

Perfect start for the visitors in their first game since parting company with Carlos Carvalhal.

  18. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 15:08 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2017

    Cardiff 0-0 Fulham

    Was it or wasn't it?

Fulham's Stefan Johansen goes past a couple Cardiff defenders and goes over what seems to be a home player's leg.

The penalty isn't given but Fulham's Twitter aren't holding back - they saw the Norway forward was "clearly felled"...

David Nugent has had Derby's first sniff of goal already.

The once England international striker has had a go but Allan McGregor was on hand to palm his effort away from the far corner.

In the EFL's other 13:00 GMT games, Southend moved into the top half of League One with a 3-1 home triumph against Charlton.

Gillingham are up to 14th for now after a 1-1 draw at home to Oxford.

In League Two, Mansfield are only outside the play-off places on goal difference as they came from behind to draw 1-1 at Grimsby.
