A little bit more Swansea boss Carlos Carvahal, speaking to Sky Sports: "We did mistakes when we played Liverpool before but today they were ready for that. Inside the pitch we played one, two touch and played to the sides to be out of pressure. We have the fortune to get a goal and after that, playing against a strong team and my team needing points. It is not how we want to play but in this moment we need the points."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, speaking to Sky Sports: "We lost the game in the first half. Not only because we conceded the goal - it can happen like this - but because we did not keep the positions we wanted to. We wanted to do it differently, it did not work out. At half time we said OK, maybe we can start doing what we wanted to do at the beginning. But because of the first half we were not secure in what we were doing. The clearest chance was in the last second more or less. A point for sure would have been OK but not what we would have wanted before the game so even that would not have made it any better to be honest.

"We had to play football, we had plenty of opportunities to restart but in the end it was not good enough.

"We are frustrated of course. We have to learn from it. The boys did really well in the last few weeks but that does not help us tonight."

Great quote by Swansea manager Carlos Carvalhal, who compares Liverpool to an F1 car in London traffic.

He said on Sky Sports: “I told my players: Liverpool is a strong team. Like a Formula 1 car.

"If you put that F1 car in the 4pm London traffic, the F1 car will not drive very fast. That’s exactly what we had to do. Let them play in a way they don’t like.”

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to BBC Sport: "I'm frustrated and I'm angry because it was not a good game. We lost the game in the first half. We didn't do what we wanted to do. It hasn't happened too often so I didn't expect that, I was quite surprised. Because of the first half we weren't flying and they were.

"We made pressure at the end but not enough to score. The last situation was unlucky but if we got a point it would still have been a bad game for us, and it was the opposite of what we wanted. That happens from time to time and it's never the right moment and like it should be.

"It's not that we threw it away. Swansea are fighting for their life and we've no problem with that, we had a problem with our offensive motions. It's not what we came here for tonight, we have nothing, and that's our fault."

Swansea goalscorer Alfie Mawson: "It was great to score the goal but this season I've been at fault for a few as well so you have to take the good with the bad.

"I know it hasn't moved us in the table but it could be a massive three points come the end of the season."

Swansea goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski: "We had to be fully focused on defending and that always gives you a chance. But we didn't just sit back and wait for them, there were moments when we attacked as well.

"At this moment the win does nothing for us but with this game and then Arsenal at home next, everyone will look at us as the side that's going to be beaten so we'll get a lot of encouragement from tonight, and we closed the gap on the teams above us, which was very important."

Just six points separate the teams from 11th to bottom. Compare that with 39 points from top to 10th.

The battle to stay in the Premier League is wide open.
