  1. 'Mkhitaryan has ALL the attributes'published at 18:39 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2018

Arsene Wenger seems pretty happy with what he got out of the swap deal.

“Henrikh is a very complete player," he said about Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

"He creates chances, he defends well, he can absorb distances and he’s very committed as well.

"I must say he’s a player who has all the attributes.”

Who has got the better deal?

I am il Moro: Definitely Man Utd got the better deal. Alexis is a world class player and game changer and all we had to do was swap with mhki

Sameer Neupane: Alexis is the better deal even in each and every universe of the multiverse if it exists

BulbulDaga: I think Man United got the better deal because Sanchez has already shown his quality @premierleague, external and surely better than Mkhitaryan.

  3. 'One of the best attacking players in the world'published at 18:31 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2018

Here's what Jose Mourinho had to say about the Sanchez-Mkhitaryan swap deal: “Alexis is one of the best attacking players in the world and he will complete our very young and talented group of attacking players. He will bring his ambition, drive and personality, qualities that make a Manchester United player and a player that makes the team stronger and the supporters proud of their club dimension and prestige.

“I would like to wish Henrikh all the success and happiness that I am sure he is going to get. He is a player that we will not forget, especially for his contribution to our Europa League victory.”

Alexis Sanchez has posted an open letter on his Instagram page alongside a video of him shaking hands with all his former Arsenal team-mates with the Gladiator soundtrack as the backdrop (great song choice to be fair).

    Here's what he wrote:

"I want to say thanks to the Technical Staff, to the medical team and all teammates with whom I shared many nice things for the club and especially those people who do not see themselves on the covers, but without them nothing would be possible, which are there to prepare food for us and take care of us day by day, those who keep our shoes clean and the grass in the best conditions. Many thanks to you for helping us to improve every day. Thank you very much .

"There are people (former club players) who have spoken with no knowledge of what happens inside the club and cause damage. I must say I always gave 100%, until the last day, when I asked to the Mister to be in the team, because I wanted to be a contribution. I remember today, a conversation I had with Henry, a historic Arsenal player, who changed club for the same reason and today is my turn.

"Thanks for everything Gunners! All we achieved and the good moments that I gave to the club, I want to dedicate it to the fans, they are the most important. Thanks for every time you sing Alexis Sanchez Baby."

  6. Mkhitaryan 'always dreamed of playing for Arsenal'published at 18:16 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2018

Henrikh Mkhitaryan says he has always dreamed of playing for Arsenal.

The Armenia international almost joined the club before joining Manchester United in 2016.

“I’m very happy that we could finish this deal and I’m very happy to be here," he said. "It’s a dream come true because I’ve always dreamed of playing for Arsenal.

"Now that I’m here, I’ll do my best for this club to create history.”

  7. Not to be outdone...published at 18:12 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2018

Manchester City, purely by coincidence I'm sure, made an announcement of their own at bang on 6pm - when Alexis Sanchez's move to Manchester United was officially confirmed.

But as attempts to gazump other announcements go it's a pretty good one. The brilliant Kevin de Bruyne has signed a new five-year deal at City.

Here's what Alexis Sanchez has told Manchester United's official website about joining Jose Mourinho's side:

“I am thrilled to be joining the biggest club in the world. I have spent three-and-a-half wonderful years at Arsenal and I bring with me very positive memories of that great club and its fans.

"The chance to play in this historic stadium and to work with Jose Mourinho was something I could not turn down.

"I am very proud to be the first Chilean player ever to play for United’s first team and I hope I can show our fans all around the world why the club wanted to bring me here.”
