GOAL - Bournemouth 0-1 Wigan Athleticpublished at 15:02 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2018

    Will Grigg

"Will Grigg's on fire, your defence is terrified." The popular Northern Ireland song from Euro 2016 is being sung by the Wigan fans at Bournemouth.

A cross from the left by Reece James is headed down by Gavin Massey and Grigg buries the loose ball from only six yards out. A great start for the League One leaders. A shock on the cards?

Exeter v West Brom (15:00 GMT)

    Brent Pilnick
    BBC Sport

Today’s referee Lee Mason is well known to Premier League football fans, but today’s game might bring back happy memories for him.

Back in 2002 Exeter City featured in Mason’s first-ever Football League game at Shrewsbury Town.

Exeter lost 1-0 that day, so they’ll be hoping for a better result today, although against Premier League side who seem to be taking the FA Cup seriously that might be a tough ask.

I must admit I did a double-take this week when I read Burnley boss Sean Dyche saying that Premier League survival has to take precedence for the Clarets, external over the FA Cup.

After all, his side are seventh in the table and have 34 points so, even after a winless festive period, I cannot imagine the relegation klaxon has been sounded at Turf Moor.

Dyche does have a point, though. A Burnley nosedive does look unlikely, but something similar has happened before - in the 1994-95 season, when Norwich were sitting pretty on 6 January in eighth place on 33 points, but were relegated come May.

Burnley’s 6,700 travelling fans, who have taken over the top two tiers of the South Stand at the Etihad Stadium, can probably rest easy, though. That is the only time during the Premier League era that any team either in the top half of the table or with more than 27 points on this date, has ended up going down.

  14. 'Spare a thought for Coventry'published at 14:32 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2018

    Coventry v Stoke (15:00 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
BBC football expert on BBC Radio 5 live

Fans of any Premier League teams who moan like hell about everything should spare a thought for Coventry supporters because what they have been through in the past few years is just ridiculous.

Mark Robins is doing a really good job and I would love the Sky Blues to get a draw and earn some money in a replay.

But, because of the gulf between the Premier League and League Two, it is impossible to see them winning this tie.

  15. 'Wolves would compete in the Premier League'published at 14:28 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2018

    Wolves v Swansea (15:00 GMT)

    Swansea City

Swansea City manager Carlos Carvalhal said: "Wolves are not a typical club from the Championship. In my time in the Championship, they were the best team I saw.

"I believe they would be competitive in the Premier League. They have players who played often in the Portuguese top flight in the first team.

"Diogo Jota was at Atletico Madrid, others have played for Benfica and Monaco so the players do not belong to the Championship. The correct place for these players is the Premier League - but I don't agree they are favourites.

"It is 50-50, like all the teams that go away from home to a Championship club, as the tempo is higher, the players run more and it makes it difficult."

  16. Team newspublished at 14:28 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2018

Monaco one week, Bolton the next. Huddersfield's new signing Terence Kongolo makes his first start for the club.

Joel Coleman starts in goal while defender Michael Hefele returns to the first XI for the first time since picking up an injury on 19 September. Midfielder Abdelhamid Sabiri also starts.
