West Ham have a corner, which Aaron Cresswell takes from the left but Wayne Hennessey eases the situation by coming off his line to take the delivery.

    Swansea City 0-0 Arsenal

Arsenal look to be missing Jack Wilshere in the middle of midfield with the hosts having another chance to attack. Nathan Dyer runs at the away defence and gives it to Jordan Ayew, but his attempted knock for the over-lapping Kyle Naughton is far too heavy and the chance is wasted.

Stunning defending from Crystal Palace's James Tomkins, who launches himself full length at the feet of Javier Hernandez who was just about to pull the trigger from six yards out. Brave from the former Hammer to deny his old side. Proper, no-messing-about defending.

As it looks like Liverpool won't get a new keeper this month, why doesn't Klopp give Ward a chance? He couldn't do much worse than the other two.

    Kevin, Bridlington

Liverpool have had an awful transfer window. Van Dijk would have strengthened the squad but they promptly sold their best player and most gifted finisher. Now, no guile in midfield, no depth up front and no replacements in the offing. They can't unlock poor defence and if Firmino gets injured, then what? Absolute madness for a side with Champions League aspirations.

The fear is that not just one of the promoted clubs will be dragged down. Huddersfield rode a wave in the first seven or eight games, but as the regularity of playing top Premier League clubs week-in week-out, they found out how difficult it is.

But it is nights like this that got them excited to be in the Premier League. If they can get something from this game it will be a great way to kick on for the end of the season.

    Swansea City 0-0 Arsenal

Chance for Swansea. Jordan Ayew gets himself free on the edge of the penalty area, the shot takes a wicked deflection off Shkodran Mustafi and loops over the head of Petr Cech.

Luckily for Arsenal, the ball bounces wide and the corner comes to nothing.

Moments later it falls to Alfie Mawson a few yards out but the returning Aaron Ramsey throws himself in front of the ball to stop the shot.

They've got Ozil, Mesut Ozil and I just don't think we all understand, but it is Olivier Giroud who gets the second chant of the night from the Arsenal fans. He's on the bench, but his name was being sung 90 seconds into this match...

Nearly a good start to Joao Mario's career at West Ham as he gets a sight of the posts, but can only drag his effort well wide.

Palace's Luka Milivojevic is shown an early yellow for chopping down Sam Byram in the build-up to that Mario chance.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaking to BT Sport: "Virgil van Dijk on the bench is rotation. James Milner is only playing because he is from Yorkshire! No, both he and Jordan Henderson did well when they came on against West Brom. They bring physicality for this specific challenge."

Aaron Ramsey is back in the side, and Alexandre Lacazette will be keen to show what he can do, especially with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang potentially on the way.

Mark Harding: Van Dijk on the bench; Lovren in the team. I don’t understand football any more...

Dave: Klopp has a transfer committee to deal with, who are probably there to maximize profits. Beginning to think team selection is up to them too. Trying to get the value of Karius up to sell on!

Doctor Joker: Liverpool repeating the same mistakes of last year. Klopp never seems to learn. Liverpool has a thin squad once again.

I cannot see Aubameyang going to Arsenal - it is too close to the wire. They will probably just miss out and Wenger will have shown Giroud how little he cares for him.

Why would Liverpool need to sign a replacement for Sturridge? Unless you need Welbeck to keep his seat on the bench/in the stands warm.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaking to BT Sport about his claim that broadcaster demands meant the first half was cut short in the FA Cup defeat by West Brom: , external"I don't think I complained, everyone in the stadium knows it should have been nine or ten minutes and it was only four.

"We did not lose the game because of that it was only one part of the VAR issues that night. West Brom actually scored during that period. It would have been better to end it early."
