Andy: Tonight's Hammers line-up shows how thin our squad is, and despite all the money the stadium move was supposed to generate, we just don't (can't?) bring in any players, and there's no real explanation from the board. Worried.

Harry Cornwell: I can't help but think that Giroud is going to come on in the 80th minute, score the winner, and gets a standing ovation. A proper goodbye.

Rezaa Sait: Can't help but fear for this Arsenal team without Jack Wilshere. Been their best player by miles since his return.

Swansea City v Arsenal (19:45 GMT)

We have already mentioned Roque Mesa leaving on loan for Spanish side Sevilla and he has just posted an emotional tweet thanking the Swans fans.

He says: "These have been very nice months in which I have known a beautiful city, a pleasant stadium and an amazing support.

"I couldn't have shown all my football in Swansea but I have lived one of my best moments of my career when the whole Liberty Stadium sang a song with my name.

"I am sure that with the support of the fans, Swansea will stay in the Premier League. I will cheer and follow them and I wish them the best of Luck. Forever Jack."

Dave Wood: Surely the most straightforward solution to this love triangle is Aubameyang to Chelsea & Batshuayi the other way?

Scott Beattie: Hopefully Liverpool will be back to winning ways tonight! Can’t handle any more bad games, these are the teams we really need to be beating!

Swansea City have confirmed midfielder Roque Mesa will join Sevilla on loan until the end of the season.

The 28-year-old has made 16 appearances for Swansea following his £11m summer switch from Las Palmas which includes nine Premier League starts.

But Mesa has only played in one league game since Carlos Carvalhal was appointed manager in December 2017. That was the 2-1 win against Watford in Carvalhal's first game in charge.

Sevilla are sixth in La Liga, and have reached the Copa del Rey semi-finals after beating Atletico Madrid in the last eight. The Spanish side faces Manchester United in the Champions League next month.

  9. MOTD gets new contractpublished at 18:51 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January 2018

    Great news.

Match of the Day will show Premier League highlights until at least the 2021-22 season after renewing its contract for a further three years.

The £211.5m deal - up from £204m - also includes Match of the Day 2, Football Focus and The Premier League Show. MOTD and MOTD2 attract a combined audience of more than seven million each weekend.

Barbara Slater, director of BBC Sport, said the deal highlights the show's "continued success and popularity".

Now presented by former England captain Gary Lineker, Match of the Day was first broadcast on BBC Two in 1964.

Charlotte Moore, director of BBC Content, said: "To secure the Premier League highlights for another three years is fantastic news for football fans all over the UK and ensures the BBC remains the free-to-air home with the iconic Match of the Day at the heart of all the action."

Ken King: Mahrez and his unending last-minute transfer saga. Time for Leicester to let him go. Their performance in the last FA Cup indicates they can do without him and can avoid the distraction and disaffection in the team if he's not allowed to leave this time.

Jamie Garg: What about Chelsea signing Giroud and then sending Batshuayi elsewhere so Dortmund pull out of Aubameyang deal... No brainer from a Chelsea perspective.

He is one of four changes to their starting line-up from their last Premier League match - a 1-1 draw at home against Bournemouth.

    BBC Sport

Michy Batshuayi, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Oliver GiroudImage source, .

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is pencilled in for a medical in London on Wednesday morning. As we know, the deal can only happen if Borussia Dortmund secure a replacement.

Earlier today, everything was set for Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi to join Dortmund on loan with Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud moving to Chelsea for £20m.

However, Chelsea – through their transfer negotiator Marina Granovskaia – are now said to be trying to drive the Giroud price down at the last minute.

Arsenal have not taken well to that and are threatening to end negotiations with Chelsea and send Giroud on loan to Dortmund, in order to complete the Aubameyang signing.

The problem with that, of course, is whether Giroud will agree to join Dortmund (which was the original plan before Chelsea entered the fray). If not and Giroud stays at Arsenal, Dortmund would have to source an alternative replacement if the Aubameyang transfer is to proceed.

  15. The crazy world of the transfer windowpublished at 18:41 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January 2018

Sometimes the end of the transfer window can be a huge disappointment. That doesn't look to be the case this time around, with Arsenal desperately trying to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

But the deal could rest on a number of other transfers taking place as well. Confused? Here is our man David Ornstein to clear things up.

Riyad Mahrez has handed a transfer request in at Leicester. It is understood Manchester City have bid for the player.

Leicester’s position from the summer has not changed and they have no wish to lose the player.

In addition, the reported fee of £50m falls well below their valuation of Mahrez.

Manchester City may well have moved for Riyad Mahrez after the news that Leroy Sane faces an absence of up to six weeks after he sustained an ankle ligament injury in the FA Cup win over Cardiff on Sunday.

  19. Crazy numberspublished at 18:37 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January 2018

Manchester City's £57m capture of Laporte moved the total spent by Premier League clubs in this window from £195m to a record £252m.

The previous high of £225m was set in 2011, when Liverpool striker Fernando Torres moved to Chelsea on deadline day.

Chile forward Alexis Sanchez's move from Arsenal to Manchester United has been the story of the window so far, despite no fee being involved as he made the switch in a straight swap for Armenia playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The biggest fee so far is the £75m Liverpool paid to Southampton for Netherlands centre-back Virgil van Dijk - a world record for a defender.

And let's start off with the Premier League leaders... getting even stronger.

Manchester City have signed French defender Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao for a club record fee of £57m.

The fee for Laporte, yet to win a cap for France, takes spending by Premier League clubs this month to £252m - a record for a January transfer window.

The 23-year-old's arrival takes City manager Pep Guardiola's spending on defenders and a goalkeeper since the end of last season to £215.5m.

The club's previous record fee was the £55m paid for Kevin de Bruyne in 2015.
