A minute's applause at Anfield for Liverpool goalkeeper Tommy Lawrence, who died this week aged 77.

The Scotsman, who won three caps for his country, was Bill Shankly's first-choice keeper during the 1960s.

He only missed four league matches in six seasons as the Reds won the First Division Championship twice and claimed the FA Cup for the first time.

Elis: If Klopp paid attention to how Roy Hodgson set up Palace against Man City, then he may get the win that just eluded Roy.

Credit to Fabian Delph. Many felt he would hardly feature in the Man City side and that it was just a financially motivated move, but he has played plenty of games under Pep in a quality team

Raheem Sterling's final product has really come on this season - his finishing, his final ball and his movement. In the final third now, he produces time after time, he's been outstanding this season, he really has. You can see Pep Guardiola's worked with him a lot over the summer and it's really bearing fruit.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has taken a big decision by keeping faith with Loris Karius in goal ahead of long-time first-choice Simon Mignolet for the Premier League's toughest test of all - the meeting with unbeaten league leaders Manchester City.

And it looks like if Karius impresses today he could get a lengthy run.

It's bitterly cold at Anfield but the supporters inside Anfield are ready to be warmed up by one of the season's most eagerly-awaited games.

Looking at this Man City side - they're like a team on Fifa - they way they move and interact with each other. There's so much pace, and you always look to get players with pace on Fifa.

'Sugar, Sugar' by the Archies is being played at Anfield - that has been worked into a chant you may have heard this week.

Liverpool have sold Philippe Coutinho as the chant says but they still have a lot of attacking talent out there, and money in the bank.

Who will they buy? A keeper?

This is the biggest stumbling block remaining. I think Man City might lose it - if Liverpool are at it. Jurgen Klopp's record against the top six is very good.

Defensively is where Man City's problems are for me. It’s not shown by their stats but if you were to highlight where you’ll win the game, that’s where it would be. Liverpool’s front three are as good as any in Europe when on form.

Man City have got so much confidence in their side at the minute, they'll come to Anfield thinking they can win, there's no doubt about it. I think they can win everything this year.

They've got that similar fear factor surrounding them that Arsenal's invincibles had, teams will be scared to play City at the moment.

I really think with Karius in goal Liverpool have made Man City favourites for this game. Bringing in a top keeper is a must for the Reds.

Match of the Day 2 Extra

Burnley and Republic of Ireland midfielder Jon Walters: Man City work so hard off the ball, if you watch them, every single player is closing down the ball. They press right up the pitch and they always want to win the ball back, every single player. The way they press is similar to Liverpool, they just don't stop, it's not impossible to play against, but it's very, very difficult.

Ex-Chelsea and Australia goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer: I think City work so hard off the ball, you can see it in the way they play, they put the hours in with Pep Guardiola and the results are showing on the pitch.
