Kyle Walker is one of the top full-backs in Europe for me. He's really taken the directive from his manager on board - not to bomb forward all the time - to pick when's best to go forward. Sadio Mane will give him a real tough test on Sunday, but I think he's been magnificent so far this season, defending and attacking.

  2. Brewster in hospitalpublished at 15:35 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2018

Liverpool v Man City (16:00 GMT)

Liverpool forward Rhian Brewster was taken to hospital after suffering an ankle injury during an Under-23 match at Manchester City on Friday.

Brewster, 17, was carried off on a stretcher having landed awkwardly after challenging for a header in first-half stoppage time as the Reds lost 3-2.

He won the golden boot in England's Under-17 World Cup win in October but is yet to make his senior debut.

"I’ve spoken many times both here in England and back in Germany of my respect for Pep as a person and as a professional. He can be summed up in two words and one phrase: ‘world class’."

Liverpool v Man City (16:00 GMT)

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on Football Focus

This is a real heavy-weight clash, it's two massive teams going head-to-head and whoever strikes first could get the knock-out blow. Liverpool can always score goals, but with the departure of Philippe Coutinho, I think Man City could have the edge.

  6. 'City's toughest test'published at 15:30 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2018

Joleon Lescott believes the trip to Anfield will be Manchester City's toughest test of the season...

Yes, for me. If they can get through this game unbeaten then I think every other team in the league will look and think 'well, if Liverpool don't have enough in attack to beat this team, then what chance do we have?'.

Former Crystal Palace chairman on BBC Radio 5 live

I thought Crystal Palace would beat Manchester City, and they got a draw. I just had a feeling with their fans, the atmosphere at Selhurst Park. What we’ve not seen is any adversity. Liverpool will ask some serious questions for Man City. I think Liverpool might get a result.

  11. 'Liverpool can beat them'published at 15:23 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2018

    Don Hutchison
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

Man City are playing a brand I’ve not seen before. They rest when they have possession. Liverpool can beat them. I expect a fast start. I think this could be one of the most entertaining games. Pep Guardiola won’t play for a draw obviously.

Since Jurgen Klopp took charge of Liverpool in October 2015, the Reds have won more points in Premier League games between the ‘big six’ than any other side (39).

They also have more wins (9), fewer defeats (3) and more goals (40) than anyone else in these fixtures.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaking to BBC 5 Live: "Together with Emre Can, Dejan Lovren is the longest serving player, so that's it, it's down to his time at the club. None of our usual captains are playing today, so that's it, Dejan is captain just for today."

On Virgil van Dijk: "He is a little bit injured, if it's the last game of the season you can take the risk, but not today, because we have more games coming up. He will be back for the next game, for sure."

The future of Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez will be decided imminently after he was left out of the squad to face Bournemouth.

The 29-year-old is out of contract in the summer and has been linked with a January move to Manchester City.

However, Manchester United and Liverpool have also been linked.

"He's being vague at the moment. The situation is not completely decided one way or the other, so I left him at home," said boss Arsene Wenger.

Asked if a decision was imminent, Wenger said: "Yes. Don't read too much in it because even I don't know which way it will go."

City are unwilling to match the Gunners' £35m asking price, while United boss Jose Mourinho said on Friday that Sanchez is a "phenomenal player".

Liverpool v Man City (16:00 GMT)

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp makes three changes following the 2-1 FA Cup win over Everton, with the return of Mohamed Salah and the absence of Virgil van Dijk the headline news.

Van Dijk is reported to have a tight hamstring, meaning Dejan Lovren is recalled to start alongside Joel Matip in the centre of the Liverpool defence.

Salah suffered a groin injury in the 2-1 win over Leicester and missed Liverpool's victories over Burnley and Everton.

Georginio Wijnaldum also returns, with James Milner and Adam Lallana dropping down to the bench.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has made six changes following their midweek League Cup success over Bristol City.

Sergio Aguero, Fernandinho, Fabian Delph, Nicolas Otamendi, Kyle Walker and goalkeeper Ederson all back in the side, which is more like a regular City line-up in the Premier League following back-to-back cup outings.

Forward Gabriel Jesus and defenders Vincent Kompany and Benjamin Mendy remain sidelined for the leaders.

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Leicester City & Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

I'm surprised to see Loris Karius in goal for Liverpool. When you look at Karius and Ederson, they're worlds apart, Ederson looks so confident with the ball at his feet, but Karius seems to put the whole crowd on edge when he has it at his feet. Bringing in a new keeper with the Coutinho money has to be a priority for Jurgen Klopp.
